Default Magnum Closes

According to the ‎Francesco Theodoli‎ (son), he announced earlier today that after 50 yrs Magnum is closing the Aventura yard which opened in 1966-2016. It was the last boat yard on 188 street along with the boat yard towards the end of the street also owned by Magnum. Looks like the city of Aventura finally won the battle. Although 188st Thunder Row Ally died many yrs ago, it is not officially dead as Magnum fought and fought with the city to stay as they owned the property but at the end was defeated. Here's the link to his page.

Seems like they deleted it from their page. Some were saying the yard was closed some were saying Magnum itself. ‎Francesco Theodoli said him and his brother are devastated. Since it was deleted, i'm not sure what was closed, but he for sure said one or the other was.

Katrin Theodoli, Dear Mr. Hitroff, It was a hoax of very bad taste! We are presently laminating the hulls in Maine; we are working on the new 70 hardtop I showed you and the new Magnum 90. I will keep you informed of the developments. All is well at Magnum Marine!Thank you for caring.

Wonder WHY in Maine!

Hinckley is up there and there used to be some big steel shipyards but not sure what the attraction is with Maine especially if the boats are ending up in Florida or S. America as their final destination. I would suspect Magnum has some serious competition with other brands like Pershing, Sunseeker, Princess, Baia etc. and those boats look a lot more updated than a Magnum does. Magnum has race history but not sure that matters to too many buyers in this segment.

Within the state of Maine there is an abundance of highly skilled fiberglass builders. The downturn in the boating industry, along with the restrictions of coastal fishing, and the geographic location of the state leaves many skilled people unemployed. I'm happy for magnum as this is an awesome opportunity for them to build with in the United States, and to help the employees and people who live in a remote economy.

I live in Aventura and pass by NE188 St all the time. I always wondered how Magnum held on for so long. I would think the property would bring a good price for another condo building. Does anybody know how many boats Magnum builds a year?

In the early 2000's there was a lady who had a 50 that would do the FPC events, boat as named Jade and would run in the low seventies.
