Default What the Puck to do about Lavorsi's GPS Antenna?

Apparently if you have an older style Gaffrig/Lavorsi Speedo (or three as in my case) with a battery powered puck-style antenna and your battery is dead - you are now pucked. Lavorsi doesn't sell replacement antennas and now they no longer offer a replacement service for your battery. Apparently you can't just change the battery yourself because according to Lavorsi the antenna requires a software reboot after the battery has been changed. The new Lavorsi solution: buy a completely new gauge and antenna from Lavorsi for over $550 instead of just replacing your battery.

Does anyone know a way around this?

You can replace your antenna with one that has the same type of wires as the depleted one.

I don't remember what puck(looks like a computer mouse) I have but I replaced the battery and it worked afterwards. I had to unsolder a tin cover to get to the battery, then unsolder the battery. The replacement battery was a little different (connectors) but I was able to tweak them and get it to work. That was 5 years ago now. Still works.

Exactly. You literally have nothing to lose by trying your own battery replacement.

Not sure this helps, just in case your phone person told you incorrect info. This will help you double check:
