BINGO post # 118 and it is common

Hate to tell you SAM's Means nothing not even one ounce of anything for guys who actually works on boats especially on the mechanical side that are very capable and trained thru out on all OEM marine systems.

GAS marine side ---- I would 1000 times over take the best marine tech over any best of what SAMs has to offer when it comes to NON Yacht boats and NON Yacht systems.

Problem is a big marina can have a big effect on a surveyors income. Especially if they don't like a report on one of their boats.

Do they get a copy of the survey along with the person contracting for it? Seems if there are faults they should already be aware, and his job is to point them out to prospective buyers.

On a $140k boat, I'm flying in Glassdave and BUP, all expenses paid. I'll even buy them dinner. From the dollar menu.

Sounds like there is a need / demand for it.

If you are really that good, you could be the Tres Martin, or Dustin Whipple, or Mike Fiore, or John Tomlinson of powerboat surveys. THE guy that everybody wants looking at their boat prior to purchase. I would think that someone spending $100k plus would sleep better after paying someone like that a couple/few grand to have the peace of mind that comes with somebody experienced and familiar with this type of boat, and what to look for.

It's a cool concept.

The Cozi name appears time to time about being good.

Unfortunately, with the web forums, most come to it to look for answers or spread the word they got boned.

People usually don't sign up to a forum to make one or two posts on how good something was.

Well I know this now. This is my second boat purchase in 20 years. Just figured how could a boat this nice, this expensive be jacked up. Live and learn.

Not faulting you, just giving a different perspective. My dad used to tell me if I lost money to someone, it was a lesson learned, to consider the money lost a monument to their lack of character. My lessons just came cheaper than yours.

I know you don't care what HP the engines are, but I'd be curious why those 525s are labeled 700s. And you are absolutely correct, when spending that kind of coin, you don't expect to see these kinds of things. However, a blown up 525/700 could be just as much or more to correct...... Good luck my friend, and enjoy a beautiful boat when you can....
