The joys of buying a used six figure performance boat.

Been trying to get my boat lifted off the trailer for a couple years now to have some strakes repaired and the entire bottom touched up and if need be, re-sprayed. No luck with shops in IL. Might just have to drag her down to Terry here in October or November. Hopefully your Nor-Tech is long gone by then!

We are in the same boat. I purchased a 2004 Donzi 38ZX from Shogren's. Prior to the drive I requested photo's Boy it sure looked good my mistake was not getting a survey. The steps were smashed in and filled with caulk. Greg said $500.00 would fix them I didn't no Try $2,600.00 . Time for a sea trial, about one minuet on alarm went off. Greg called service and they had a few suggestions that could not be corrected in the water. The silent choice did not work on the port engine as well. And was told thats a minor fix. I said I would not pay what we agreed on because the boat was not what it had been presented as. The service dept. said they corrected the alarm it was a minor fix. Still not certain my son and I went back outside to inspect the boat and noticed a problem with the surge brakes leaking oil, Greg said coming back they felt weak. We are 6 hours away thru Chicago. I would not travel with out them working properly. He should have said something about that.Well I got the boat for $1,000.00 less than what I offered originally being told that would fix everything. last labor day weekend was our only boating for 2015 my nieces 6 year old son was scared to death, So 40 MPH max and less than one hour on the meters. Our first adventure this year was a poker run West Michigan Offshore. So excited we almost made it to the 2nd card stop maybe 20 miles total. Port Engine sucked a piston and what else the motor will be pulled next week.We only hope to be able to use it this Labor Day weekend. I strongly suggest a different dealer. I paid $85,000.00 not as bad as your $140,000.00 but i'll be pushing $100,000.00 and not done yet.

Okay, so I stopped by to see Terry this afternoon and he has glassed the starboard side and is working on the port. He said that it appears that there has been 2 different times this has been repaired as the work on the upper chines didn't match the work he grinded off on the lower chines. He said a lot of what he ground off had air pockets, not real good for strength.. He also stated the blue filler, presumably put in from the factory that he ground down had some air bubbles in it. So this issue may have started from day 1, 2007. Regardless, the 2 repair jobs that were done were not done correctly. Looking like I have another few weeks before he'll be finished, but after talking with him and watching him work, there will be no more issues with what he has fixed. Check out the updated photos on the link. Terry knows his stuff and I am stoked he is the one fixing this. Nothing against any other glass guys on this forum because I'm sure most of you would have done a much better job than the last two performed on this boat. Enjoy your 4th! I'm going to get the tooner out and chill. Can't wait for August and the shootout. Matt if I see you I'll buy your a beer, thanks again for your help.
