After being on here for so many years and having been involved in numerous threads, I figured it was a given I was tied in to LOTO and PBC (indirectly) Any one who pays attention would know that.

I guess you want me to put in my signature?: I move boats for___,____,____, so you should know... Sounds silly to me! Just means I know what I am talking about instead of spouting off half baked... Well at least most of the time!

Surprise.

Another negative nelly thread.

Going to hit our lake , in 1/2hr or so, for 2nd time today, that is more full of all type boats than it has been in about 10 yrs or so.

Maybe if they read these threads they would pack up and sell too.

Thank goodness they aren't.

I was out on Lake Havasu since friday giving demo's for our new 32 and the lake and river was packed with boats. From a west coast view the boating world is alive and well

23 with a single 300 and forward seating. 100K (ridiculous I know) but that boat 10 years ago was 55-60K with a 225 and today it is probably still worth 50K with 800 hours on it! Used Alburys are made from unobtainium!
I never heard of Albury, I clicked on the link you provided, I watched the video for hull design, and I do get and I appreciate what the builder is accomplishing with that boat, and its' history.. I learned something new today, thank you for posting this.

I don't know that the performance boating market is crashing as much as it's changing. When builders like Sunsation stop building traditional performance boats in favor of blinged out CC's, it's a clear indicator that the market has shifted. Try to build a new 36 Yellowfin. Give them a deposit and a year later you will have a hull being popped from the mold. Try the same thing with Intrepid and you could be upwards of 18 months to get one. Freeman is about the same. The demand for these boats is huge and the prices are off the charts ridiculous. Same is true for many smaller boats as well. Calcutta cats, Barker Boatworks, etc. Takes a year to get one. Barker is backed up 40-50 boats deep at the moment. This is for a $165,000 26' boat with a single outboard.

I think comparing the go fast boat market to the housing market is apples to oranges... Perhaps comparing housing to boats in general is a better and just view the performance boats as one segment that may never recover. Lets face it, Performance boats as we know them haven't been around all that long, maybe 30 years?? Plus, the generation of boaters that drove the growth in the go fast market are slipping away with no one to replace us.

All countries have housing boom and bust cycles but generally, house values go up.
What would the world be like if it was all reversed and houses went down and boats went up? Imagine dinner table talk like.....

"I really want a mid 90's top gun but just can't quite afford one. Guess I'll have to settle for a brand new 39' instead."

"We finally paid off the mortgage on our home after 25 years. I wish we'd have bought a boat instead, we'd be sitting on millions!"

Originally a boat built in the Bahamas (Abacos) by Willard Albury and family and usually had a 2+ year wait. US businessman goes over and asks to license their design for US built boats and they agree. US boats are of same quality but much faster build cycle and they have made new models such as the 33. Jassman on OSO built one and loved it.
