About how fast were you cruising in those conditions? Just curious for my own benefit running in bumpy water, not looking to stir the pot.
I would likely say Fisher was near the same. |
Those videos are awesome!! Man I'd love to be out there on one of those boats!!

They have nothing to prove to anyone and are not willing to risk their crews, their equipment, or the reputation/safety record of the BT event. As far as nothing to prove, I do agree with that. Especially if you have an uncomfortable passenger. And I definitely don't want to see anyone get hurt because of an ego. BUT, people seem to have forgotten what "offshore boats" are designed to do. If you can't go out and push the sticks forward, trim it up and leave it they're not interested(again, not everyone). How about going out there, using your head and crushing some waves? We weren't in the poker run, but we were out in Lake Michigan all day in a 28 Powerquest. We probably averaged 25-30 mph, but we were smiling the whole time! Even when we were soaking wet. |

Just to add to.... Before we decided to continue on, I received a full thumbs up from the crew. They were hesitant at first (as you can tell from the commentary in the vid!) but once we got out and they realized it wasn't that terribly bad. They wanted to continue. At no time did I make a decision to continue on without full support and approval from the crew. If the conditions would have been beyond my driving skill level or the boats ability to navigate the waters then we would have returned to safe harbor. I/We had nothing to prove to anyone, we just wanted to play and have some fun.

I agree 100%

Congrats to the boats that made the first card stop, job well done, we were not one of them are crew decided its wasn't safe and I wasn't prepared to beat up the new boat for a couple cards. Next Year !!! can't wait. BTW after our ride across lake charlivoix we pretty knew it wasn't going to good on Lake Michigan.

Also- maybe some others don't care as much... but for the second year in a row someone has been running their engines during the National Anthem. This is inexcusable in my opinion. I don't care if it isn't working and you're trying to get it running last second... or if you shut it off it won't start again... or whatever. Turn your engines off in respect for our country and veterans, please. We had a great time and our best Boyne yet, but it's the small stuff that we all can get better on. Hammer down!! |

Was it as rough as 2008? We came up to watch back then - as I recall the day started out ugly but the water seemed to be big all day, even after the sun came out. I also seem to remember some people breaking some sh*t that year, too...
Glad everyone had a great time and was safe! Sounds like it was another marvelous year. |

I have to say, after the thorough explanation and repeated requests by the DNR for us NOT to run 4 wide and block the channel, it seemed like it was worse than last year. Some boats were blatantly on the left side of the channel and I can't believe some of the boats coming in weren't run into the wall because there had to be less than ten feet of clearance from the wall the some of our boats going out. A certain yellow cat comes to mind...

I was lucky enough to be out on AJ's Boat Saturday for the run, I can't thank him enough for the awesome ride!! He is truly a great captain, kept his crew and boat safe, and put a smile on my face for the whole weekend. Can't remember all the "Whoo Hooo's, and "Hell Yeah's" I screamed!!! Thanks again Adam.

AJ, NIce run with a 33' Powerplay!!!! Ran one down here in S. FL for many years back in the day. What an incredible rough water boat for it size!
Awesome video. |

I have nothing but praise for the organizers and the entire Boyne community for the event that they put forth. Our NY crew on the MTI were completely impressed and almost overwhelmed with what this event offers- the ability for us to participate in giving back to an amazing and appreciative charitable cause. We must thank all of Boyne for helping remind us that the greatest gifts are given, not received. We can't wait to bring our families next year to share this joy with them. Plans are already in place to up our game at the street show, defend our stereo wars title by going WAYYYY over-the-top, and then get to run the full poker run coarse under safer conditions with the rest of some awesome boats overshadowed only by the quality of people and crews that truly make this event so much more than just boating. With sincere gratitude, the CUZ I CAN MTI crew: Ken, Kelly, Mike and Nolan. BTW.........Those that went out and ran and did so safely have all of our respect. Wish that was us too, but we did not bring the boat or the willingness to have that "fun". Awesome pics and it is great to see offshore boats run in offshore conditions !! |

After we tied up at the lunch stop we walked out to the lighthouse to kill some time till lunch and chatted with some other boaters and participants. Something we have to consider is while running our boats in those conditions is basically what they are made for, that would be great if it was just you and one other bolstered passenger that is familiar with running big water. I could not for one second put back seated passengers through that kind of day. When we looked at boats in the run that were fully capable of it they also had six or eight people on board and made the right call to come in. You have to consider those people on board behind you, seated - standing - hanging on or whatever there just inst enough to ensure their safety even if they want to go hit it. I prefer not to risk it anyways . . . . . now if you were on of those guys by themselves with a buddy ya got no excuse grow a pair and get out there:D . . . . also big water is not "trim it up time" not if you really want to run it, its about balance . . . . precise surgical balance and timing. :D |

Hard to tell anything from a camera shot but did a screen shot with the gopro....

Biggest recorded wave height for the day was 5' and all those people turned around with their tales between their legs??
Big $$, big power, big drives, Tres classes, talk crap about how awesome their brand is at handling waves and don`t have the balls to even exit the channel to see what the conditions are like.. oh boy. probably best to stick to jumping cruiser wakes or staying within your bay or River of the Ozarks and please stay off of Facebook telling everyone what a wavecrusher you have. 90 boats got schooled by sub 38' bravo boats. :gfight: Welcome to Lake Michigan, it gets rough and you may actually need to know how to drive a boat. |
ICDEDPPL - I knew you would show up sooner or later and sugar coat how you felt! :D
|
wow some great shots!
|
What no single V hulls in the slop ???
|
I think what ICDEDPPL is trying to say is... Don't go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and bays that you're used to....

HA! I mean common what is this ON SHORE ONLY??! Me and Mild going for lunch .. on a thursday, with what we call some "light chop" lol I think my 8 year old was holding the camera. :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFHZ7Y2N-_c&feature=youtu.be Let`s go across a flat lake at 120mph and that`s all good but throw some "light chop" in the mix and all of a sudden it`s all about the safety. Ok I see how that works.:D |

We had 2 Formulas, a fountain, a Scarab, 2 Bajas, and myself, all bravo boats, Oh well we had a great day out on the water. Although we wish we could have seen the cool boats!

We put 40 miles on in a little 28 footer waiting for the big boats to show up!
