Assuming we outboard owners do get our own technical section, I’ve come up with some suggestions for things we all want to know more about. My starter list looks like this:

- The finer points of cam selection for two stroke outboards

- How many valves per combustion chamber is optimum?

- How to properly drain the powerhead your two stroke outboard during winterization

- How to get every last drop of oil out of your two stroke outboard during oil changes

- How to install that exhaust buzzing / shriek that big block owners hate

- Exhaust reversion and what to do about it

- How to properly change the universal joints in your two stroke outboard

- Why won’t mosquitos hang around with me anymore?

- My two stroke seems to be burning oil. What should I do about it?

- Why are all of my big block friends always so far behind me?

- New sunglasses make the “blue haze” all but disappear!

- How to console your big block friends after passing them in a lawn care device

- Starting your outboard for maximum blue smoke output

- An insect’s spotter’s guide to two stroke outboards and which ones to avoid

I would like a outboard section, love to learn about what you guys like to do to modify them for more power.

It involves drilling holes in the transom, that's I'll I'm willing to divulge at this time.

We can get as radical as you I/o guys and loose dependability as well. I ditched my VOS (fuel) system on my promaxes and run remote pumps from the boat to motors. I am having my 1990 Weldon 2001A pumps rebuilt after running flawlessly for the past 25 years with no maintenance!! Replacement cost is $800.00 per pump. $510.00 per pump to rebuild is money well spent! Other than LU fluid and one set of sparkplugs in 3 years I have been and 85 mph maintenance free everyday ride!
More power comes from more squeeze. I inexpensive set of heads and some race gas......more power....until...BOOM!!! It's just money.

Hi!

One of the best outboard sections was part of the magazine Bass & Walley Boat Magazine. The editor of that section was John Tiger jr. Bring him in as moderator and we will all learn awful lot :)

Cheeers, Toffen

S&F. The best for outboard info. Bar none.
