They don't seem to want to talk about 4 strokes over there too much.

Well I've boated with two stroke power for 4 decades and went to the dark side briefly and came back to OB power now Verado Power. I have no desire to do inboards again.

I haven't used the new Verados enough yet to give a full opinion yet. The DTS is incredible and they are so quite and user friendly around docks. At WOT you can talk normally and hear behind my windshield. I feel the 400Rs will prove to be a great compromise between both IO and two strokes.

There are so many set up variables and modifications which easily cross all makes and hull types of OB boats. S and F is good but typically I have found geared more towards two stroke and smaller hulls. I think and Outboard section would be very valuable.

I don't miss watching and adding two stroke oil to resivoirs but I do miss the smell of burnt two stroke oil in the mornings. It smells like victory.......

If all the big block I/O guys detuned their engines to OB power levels they would probably have the same reliability. Start with an 800 hp blown 540 and keep removing parts and lower cubes till it's down to about 300 or so hp.

Maybe. But that 300hp I/O package will be slower than the 300hp OB package.

6.2L 300hp- 862lbs + Alpha- 85lbs = 947lbs

300XS (XL-25") = 517lbs

Not to mention a 6.2 L produces 0.79 hp/cid
And 3.2 L OB 1.53 hp/cid
1350 Merc 2.45 hp/cid
400R 2.6 hp / cid

You would also probably have to have a shorty with a extension box to get the same CG and prop height as an OB.
