CrazyHorse Turkey Burn Oct. 5

O.K here's the deal....we are going to meet at GreatLakes at noon Saturday if the Big lake is nice we can run to GrandHaven or WhiteLake or if its too rough we can play in Muskegon Lake....round trip should be around 3 hours with a cocktail break. On return the Burn will begin! Dave and I will spring for the birds and Beer!!!If you want to bring a dish to pass thats great! We can use the lounge area above the fuel dock during Business hours thats until 6:00 pm there is a covered picnic area we can use after that. Dave and I will need to plan ahead so who's coming????

MitchStellin 10-01-2002 02:33 PM

That sounds like fun. I missed the last one so i should be able to get permission for this one. I hope the weather holds out for a ride. I would probably trailer it there since Holland is a long way away if the weather turns, or it is dark and I'm drunk. I would like to boat from here so i will play it by ear. I know where the launch is but not where the party place is. i use the launch that is next to the big coal pile. It is in a cove with a steel wall across from it. Crazy should know. Is this where you are starting. It is the only place i know of to launch a big boat.

Mr Gadgets 10-01-2002 04:50 PM

Ok Guys,
More details, is there a launch at the marina? Are there slips to tie up to while we eat, etc.. If no launch how do you get to the closest or best launch?? I dont want to chance a trip from GH to Muskegon and then back, that late in the year.. I would rather run out of Muskegon..
Boat is sitting at home waiting for the chance to hit the trailer hitch..

Dick

Waterfoul 10-01-2002 05:10 PM

To all concerned:

Great Lakes Marina is on the south side of Muskegon Lake, near the west end. The large retired passenger liner (it's big, it's white, it's called the Milwaukee Clipper, it's easy to see!!!!) is moored right at it's entrance when coming in from Muskegon Lake.Stay between the markers, trust me.

There is a ramp RIGHT NEXT DOOR to GLM. If you head west on Lakeshore (Laketon turns into Lakeshore drive.....US31 to Laketon West......turns into Lakeshore at the top of the hill overlooking the lake) until you see the Amaco/Marathon (not sure which, one of the red white and blue stations) the marina is directly behind it and the ramp is about 1/4 mile more down the road on your right. Grand Trunk Launch I believe it is called. Dave launches the Sea Ray here and I've launched here many times (as has Fred, Dyno, SuperV, Jafo, and many others).

I'm planning on being there. Will need a ride though....done boating for the year with the 'Foul.

MitchStellin 10-01-2002 05:19 PM

I,m in!!!!! Michelle wants to go so are there any women going? Mike, you can be our rope monkey if you don't mind the fenderboat:D I will bring whatever. How about lunch? I can get a 6ft sub to bring or something else. It looks like a small chance for rain but being by the lake it probably won't happen. Crazyman, give me some ideas for what to bring, If we need something for dinner I can bring it. Looking forward to seeing ya'all.

dyno 10-01-2002 07:05 PM

Mitch,
bring anything you want....If you want lunch there is a subway across the street and there is a couple of bars within walking distance of the marina with good food....Dave and Barb are going to the store to check on Turkeys and the like tonight ....and by the way I am bringing my wife and daughter....I think I'll skip lunch have some munchies on the boat and save room for the turkey...If we get to G.H or White Lake we can tie up and run into town for a bite if you like.
Don

MitchStellin 10-01-2002 07:14 PM

Thats cool, our daughter won't be home so we will be on our own. I'll just play lunch by ear, munchies sound better anyway:D Theres a big storm comming right now (I live 1/4 mile from Lake MI) so I am turning this thing off until it is over. I just replaced this from the last storm. What a pain.

Crazyhorse 10-01-2002 08:59 PM

wow, man. Smoke joints, not turkeys.

KAAMA 10-01-2002 11:00 PM

And it sounds like Mitch SMOKED a computer from the last storm.

Anyway, I made a little racket with my 540's tonight. I can't believe how smooth they idle! And then you hit the throttles a little and those things SNAP to attention like RIGHT NOW! EXTREMELY CRISP! Crispy, crispy crispy! Just have a few loose end to tie up yet.

dyno 10-02-2002 06:06 AM

way to go Mark I'll expect to see you satuday then right????
not much interest so far... Dave we may get out of this cheap a turkey sub from subway and a six pack thats like 4 bucks .......

Crazyhorse 10-02-2002 11:23 AM

What can I say? We could always go to the Tap Room if the crowd is small. I bet KAAMA doesn't show. He's yella.

Mr Gadgets 10-02-2002 04:15 PM

I am ready and waiting for the weekend..

Who else is game?? Summer will be over soon.. So sign up now to burn the turkey..

JimV 10-02-2002 04:58 PM

If it aint 60 and raining I'll be there.

dyno 10-02-2002 05:28 PM

Come on Jim you some kind of CANDY BOY?????you wont melt!!I'm just razzing you man... if its cold and wet we should still get together and have a couple cold ones and some burnt bird dont you think??? the lounge area is a great place and we dont have to worry about messing up Daves new house! Where is everyone????Fred?Check300?Midnight rider?Saber28?MackDad?The rest of the GrandHaven rats you guys in or are ya Yeller??????Kaama you better be there or I'm going to come and get your sorry butt!!!!!you dont need to pull that boat all the way to St. Joe we got water right here!!!

Waterfoul 10-02-2002 07:28 PM

I'm assuming you know I'm in.

I talked to Redstripe last night. He has a bachelor party at night and his son has a football game in the afternoon. He's out.

Scooter is seriously trying to get here. Staying at my house (If I ever call him back!! Sorry Scott......issues...see my new thread tonight). You get here, I've got a place for you to stay (don't mind the clutter.....the house is like my mind....small with lot's of useless stuff crammed into it).

I beleive MacDad said in an earlier thread that he simply could not make it on the 5th. RSCHP1 and Nauti Girl are Polaskiing (take Saturday afternoon off and come on out at least guys!!!)

Rambuctious sounded like he is in today on the phone.

That's all I know.

MitchStellin 10-02-2002 07:39 PM

Hey Mike, whats up with the liquidation? Your not leaving us are you?:(

Waterfoul 10-02-2002 07:50 PM

No, I have not heard anything more about the job. And do NOT mention it Saturday if Holly is with me....she does not know at this point that I'm trying to get it.

fred 10-02-2002 08:08 PM

What is this job Mike?

MACDAD260 10-02-2002 09:00 PM

No, sorry to say that I will not make it Saturday. Taking my 13yr old son bowhunting for deer for the first time this weekend and my wife's class reunion is on the 5th, also. All of this is going to happen about a 100 miles away so you get the picture.

Next time for sure. Hope you all have a good time.

Doug:cool:

KAAMA 10-02-2002 09:52 PM

That's right Mr. Crazyhorse---I'm not sure about myself, but my boat is "yella" for sure!

Dyno, I can still put in at St. Joe and be up there at Musky---so just don't you worry about it son!!! I'm quite sure you'll hear me coming too! I love the sweet sounding rumble of Stellings on a sunny afternoon. So stand the heck by cuz ol' KAAMA is gonna be there! :)

MitchStellin 10-02-2002 10:16 PM

I didn't know about a new job:eek: Hope it is not too far away, we sure would miss ya. Your secret is safe with me because I don't know anything about it:D See ya Sat. Michelle my not come if the weather is poor but I am clear for (to) take off:D I will be in Muskegon at high:D noon. Any non boat owners who just show up will have plenty of ride choices. If the waves are huge we can pile in the Zodiac and do some wave jumping. Two weekends ago Mike and I had some long air time in some 5 footers. It's a lot like a Jet Ski but dryer and safer.

dyno 10-03-2002 05:57 AM

The weather looks good so far!!!!partly sunny and 60ish I can deal with that!!!!

29scarab 10-03-2002 06:07 AM

KAAMA,

Whats up!!

I'd like to come down to the marina and check your BAD boy out when you put in!!

I'll call ya!!

:D :D

nautigirl 10-03-2002 07:44 AM

I think Scott is working on Sat, but maybe we'll head out after that. Great Lakes Marina right??

KAAMA 10-03-2002 07:48 AM

Shawn/29Scarab,

Shouldn't be a problem, I was going to give you a call anyway Bro. Drove past the new power plant that you work at on the highway yesterday in South Haven.

I had to go to Lane Automotive and bought a 5 gallon bucket of 75/90wt Royal Purple drive lube. I also ordered a 3 gallon, metal, compressed air pump with hose and threaded fittings for filling my outdrives with new lube. It's kind of a neat item you can get from Merc to fill your drives and keeping the mess to a minimum. It's a much better pump than those cheap plastic hand pumps that are kind of a pain in the arse.

dyno 10-03-2002 07:54 AM

Yes Kendra the Lounge area over the gas dock.....we should be there after 3:00 the boats leaving around noon!

fred 10-03-2002 08:26 AM

Kaama, where did you order the pump through and how much are they?...Thanks Fred

Crazyhorse 10-03-2002 11:37 AM

Frd, you coming saturday? Or are you going to wuss out?

fred 10-03-2002 01:23 PM

I'm trying to make it happen Dave......I'll keep in touch....Fred

dyno 10-03-2002 01:27 PM

Fred you better be there!!!!!you know how the saying goes all work and no play........

KAAMA 10-03-2002 02:19 PM

Fred, I ordered it through Premier Motorsports in Wayland, Mi. (Gun Lake) on Patterson Avenue, 616-792-8080 and ask for Patrick. Tell Patrick that you want what Mark KAAMA ordered. Price is about $200 for the tank, hose and fittings.

Mr Gadgets 10-03-2002 04:08 PM

KAAMA,

Did you pick up a copy of that book I told you about.. ?

Anyone else going to make it on Sat?? How about Check300, I owe you two a boat ride..

Dick

fred 10-03-2002 04:23 PM

Thanks Kaama, I have bought some things from Patrick at Premier before.....Fred

Mr Gadgets 10-03-2002 04:39 PM

fred,

are you going to make in on Sat? I have been looking for chance to call you and have lunch, but I have been working thru my lunch so I can head home early..

I use a garden sprayer to fill my outdrive, works pretty good and pretty cheap compared to Merc's.. Not sure how their's is set up??

Hey just heard that they want to make Lake St Clair one of the Great Lakes.. six of them..

Dick

KAAMA 10-03-2002 04:48 PM

Fred,
Sounds like you've delt with them before. I have heard real good things about those guys down there, so lately I have been rubbing elbows with them a little. They seem to be honest and fair----at least that is the reputation they have.

Hey Gadgets, dang, I forgot to grab that book while I was down at Lane's----hopefully I will remember next time I'm down there. They have a TON of those kinds of books! Hope to see you on Saturday. Sounds like it's going to be in the 50's or so on Saturday with high winds. If that's the case I will be bringing my boat to Musky and launching from Fisherman's launch or whatever they call it. It's on the N.E. side of Muskegon Lake. They did a nice job with that launch this year---they put in new longer/wider docks.

Well, I'm heading out to the shop to tinker with my boat a little. I'm going to go tie up some loose ends with it---might water test her tomorrow if the weather is cooperating.

Mr Gadgets 10-03-2002 05:09 PM

50 degrees?? It's warmer up here in the UP!! Where did you get your weather info..??

Well I have a jacket.. can do some cold weather boating..lol

Dick

dyno 10-03-2002 05:57 PM

Well Dave and I made the Turkey and Beer run tonight so you guys better show up!!!!!or I'll be eating turkey for a month....

Scooter 10-03-2002 07:32 PM

mike, let me know what is going on? me and the wife will stay in a hotel, easier for her,make-up shower action etc. lol. need to know if i meet you some where to goto launch, boat rides if any open
