Doesn't Brunswick also own Wellcraft??
Thought it was in the Genmar family??

At least it did when I toured the plant in Sarasota several years back

What people don't seem to realize is the Brunswick bought those boat builders as investments. They know how to keep those investments valuable by investing money in R&D and letting the companies run themselves. I don't hear many people ragging on Hatteras or Boston Whaler because they are owned by the same company as Bayliner (same goes for a Lexus LS400 that is built by the same company that builds the Toyota Echo), or Sea Ray just because they build more boats than anyone. "Hand-built" is not always better. Next time you boot up your computer, be thankful your microprocessor was not "hand made".

Yes, of course I'm biased, but I'm not naive enough to think that Baja's are "the best". I'm just sick of hearing a few individuals make the Bayliner comparison simply because it's convenient. I own a Baja and my father owns a Sea Ray (yes, a different kind of boat for a different kind of owner), and everywhere we go, everyone drools over our boats.

And let us not forget that our precious Mercury power is also made by that "low-quality, Bayliner-influenced" Brunswick Corp.
