Keep in mind when the prop shaft and prop come off it will still corkscrew in the water. So it may be outside your radius

Yep

Tried to sneak across the bar in a real shallow ever changing Pass I had to go through all the time.

12 feet of 1-3/4 shaft and a 30 inch prop went out the bottom of the boat when it bumped hard at 20 knots.

3 feet of water and I could not find it where I bumped. It had spiraled a 100 feet off to the side of the impact.

I'm sure Big Silver Cat knows a lot more than me but I agree with this. ^^^^^
The prop on it's own, without a drive and boat to guide it, has no balance and little traction on the water, it's not like a wheel coming off a car and bouncing down the road, a prop will flip over, twist, turn, spin and sink. I can't imagine it would continue to run a course in any one direction.

If the water was very shallow and it hit the bottom spinning, it may have 'run' along the bottom a little but at idle speed, I doubt she'd have gone far.

interesting dilemma as to where the prop goes , my 2cents I have broken some bolts that hold the blades on my zero turn mower , as fast as lawn mower blades spin you would think it would fly or at least bounce around . they fall straight down , I can always find the bolt and washer and broken blade just under the deck I would think the prop at idle or slightly above would just drop .

I have to agree , unless it came off earlier than he thinks , at idle speed it should not have traveled very far.
spinning in or out, direction of travel for boat , mark out a vector search, and widen .
if the search is off for the season it may be hard to find come springtime due to settling , sediments etc.

Any update on the search for the missing prop?

So it looks like a day of decent weather.
My version of a prop catcher complete with $270 worth of neo magnets , fish camera and go pro... I`m going to drag that thing behind a jet ski and see what I can "catch"

Expecting major shrinkage tomorrow
