50' Mystic with 1350's was leaving the dock at our Marina couple years ago. The boat owner was taking the Dockmaster for a ride and they asked me if I wanted to go , Silly question !!!
It wasnt a pretty day , with scattered storms and overcast conditions. Seas were 2' to 4' with occasional 5' or 6' mixed in ( I own a Parasail Co , so I receive weather and sea conds continuosly on my phone).
We quickly get in to low triple digits , and , after a few awkward launches , I wonder if this was really a good decision on my part. Fortunately , about a minute later one engine runs shuts down - out of gas!!!
Guy says " we put 200 gallons it the beginning of the week and only took it out 3 or 4 times". I ask what type of boat was he stepping up from , V bottom or Cat? , he responds " 22' open fish with 225 Yamaha".
Thats when I sh!t my pants!!!!

stories like above are not rare - anyone can buy a speed demon if they have the fund$.... that said, even with a healthy 401 - they first thing most people run out of is TALENT running at speed trying to impress others....ie. the LOTO Fountain accident.

After having a few eye-opening rides as a passenger ( driver didn't comprehend how out of shape we were) - my preference is obviously at the controls... at least control some part of your own destiny!

Merry Christmas Everyone - thoughts and prayers to those we lost this year ( and in the past) and their families adjusting to life without loved ones in their first Christmas/ Holidays!
