I'm certainly no painter, but I would assume he means they remove hardware (nav lights, cleats, ect) before painting instead of taping around them.
I'm sure he will chime in and let us know though.

I so wish this poundfest thing would just happen, so a bunch of people would hang out on boats, hit the docks and bars, get drunk, realize we are all here because we like boats and being jackasses, put all this behind us and get on with having fun.
