Tell me about the aluminum. In my business we manufacture exhausts along with all the brackets and hardware needed to make them work and my experience with polished aluminum is there is always a slight haze and very hard to keep bright just from air contact vs the #8 stainless which is a bear to polish but once it is polished it is like a mirror and resists elements that's why its used in the food industry. My concern in a marine environment would be under the hatch you have moisture and temperature changes that would affect the mirror finish.
