Caution on Baha Mar- it was owned/built by the Chinese and they are feuding with the Bahamian Govt and the banks that financed the project. My neighbor lives in Nassau and said that Baha Mar is running a phone scam where they will book your room, charge your credit card despite "NOT BEING OPEN!" When you arrive they tell you that unfortunately the hotel isn't ready so they booked you at a neighboring hotel (cheaper) and keep the extra money......

Yeah that place is a mess both politically and financially! As of Saturday it was still not open (saw my neighbor and asked). He said it appears ready to go, local paper announced hiring staff but nothing actually happened. I was at Atlantis 3 years ago and they were hustling on construction. It is on the main road to Atlantis so you drive right by it. They had temporary barracks set up for the Chinese labors (looked like a prison camp). Locals were aggravated that it wasn't staffed by local tradesman.....problem would be it would never get finished due to lack of quality labor!

For a preview, look at Baha Mar, the $3.5 billion resort project in the Bahamas, that’s been rescued and ruined by Chinese state controlled entities, seen its founder shoved aside to placate China and now is about to the placed in the safe hands of Hong Kong’s billionaire Cheng family, longtime friends of mainland authorities and investors in Macau gaming. The biggest mystery remaining is whether the Cheng’s Chow Tai Fook Enterprises is doing a bigger favor for Beijing or Beijing is doing a bigger favor for Chow Tai Fook.
Even though it’s 97% complete, Baha Mar, with 2,200 guest rooms, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and more, remains closed. The Caribbean’s largest ever resort project is a potential game changer for the Bahamas
