In 2000, Sea Ray upgraded to the 3126 Cats for a bit more grunt. BTW that boat is not an Express Cruiser, it's a Sundancer. The Express Cruiser has straight shafts instead of v-drives and no transverse cabin.

Interesting thread, something for everybody.....

Our buddy just bought one with Diesels and that boat is amazing.....he is the Same guy with a 41 Apache, 38 Top gun, and had the 36 Apache too.

The Diesel cruiser gets all the work load now, it's fast, fun, reliable, and no shortage of space to move around.

Anyone looking at a older large Searay needs to do due diligence on it.

Also the Cat 3116s has some major issues both in the marine and RV applications

Buy Todds SS and enjoy a boat for a few years that needs absolutely nothing. If you don't like it flip it for what you paid for it.

Not to often you see a 17 year old boat in that kind of condition and his wife drives it so it's not Beat like a Red Headed Stepchild like his Cigarette is.

Interesting piece and some valid points but at the end he said. "Will Sea Ray survive the mistake? Only time will tell, but meantime I wouldn't make any bets on Brunswick stock.". Given that article was posted in November 2002 and in 2017, Sea Ray are still very much a leader in the industry, I wouldn't be too concerned. I'd still recommend some survey work as always but don't let it stop you buying a Sea Ray.

My 410 was a 2000 model and built like a tank. I miss the boat but I don't miss the expense of maintaining a boat in a wet berth!

Yep

All it is saying is be careful and have a proper survey done by a informed and diligent surveyor.

A wet balsa cored hull on a boat that size would not be worth trying to fix unless someone wanted a lifelong project.

Many in the Searay and survey world know of the problems.
