I`m warming up to the idea of the cruiser life. Some nice diesels, cruise wherever I want without worry.
I never checked fuel usage but have been told about 1.5 mpg at cruise. If you search Cat websites you'll find fuel esage per hour for the engines and the beauty about decent size diesels, it really doesn't matter how much load on board, they still do the same thing! Also, in a cruiser, you're not on and off the throttles when it gets choppy, you just push them forward and steer.

A 410 Sea Ray ignores 4' waves, the only time I ever backed off was in a monsoonal storm and the waves were 6-8 foot breaking on the deck. We slowed to 15 knots and stayed dry. I've never spilt a drink when underway.

Problems with Cat 3116? If you Research and dig too deep, you'll never buy a 3116, a 275 Verado, a Yamaha HPDI, a Bravo sterndrive, an early 496, a gen v 502, a Volvo etc, etc. Good engines that are serviced properly and not abused run well. Caterpillar build good engines and Sea Ray build good boats. Simple!

If you own a cruiser, you may arrive after everybody else but they'll all be jumping on board when you get there to wash their faces, stretch their legs, straighten their hair, top up their drinks, eat and relax.

You could still wear your cigarette jacket on the swim platform while looking at all the peasants.

One day when I went boating on the Sea Ray with a group of friends, as we returned to the marina, the only Cigarette Top Gun I know of in Thailand was pulling up to the dock. We'd had a great day out and one of my (non boating) friends looked over at the "noisy race boat" and said.......

"Why does it have number 1 written on the side? Is that for the 1 person on board who had a fun day out?"
