That would be like trading in your classic big block tri-power Vette for a really Fast and Comfortable Dodge minivan that some dysfunctional middle age Soccer mom has beat against every curb and pot hole, while her kids are puking everywhere because the babies poopy diaper has rolled off the seat face down into the carpet . Not to mention the Dirty Women old hubby has Nailed in the back of the thing when he goes out of town for his Craigslist Hookups. |
lmao
I like you tommybanana , you might have killed my Diesel dreams but you`re alright , I don`t care what anyone says .

No phone service , it was nice . I think the boat was nice for Florida standards. :party-smiley-004: Peeling clear was only on the stripes, the sun pad was ripped, otherwise just the usual salt boat that sits on a lift and can`t really be cleaned well enough and bakes in the sun. Bolts bleeding from the salt etc. The owner had the computers out of the boat for a whipple stage on upgrade.. why? he`s been selling it for months , why would anyone do that for the new owner, sounded fishy, he was selling the house , the boat, I found other parts he was selling of the boat also that didn`t make much sense. ..I just didnt get a good vibe there. And like Tommybanana says I just can`t trade a mint freshwater boat for a Salt water one. I`m way too OCD. Also looks like someone is picking it up pending sea trial. |

That's a great deal, I have a 410 express with 496's that the customer needs to get more than that.
|
I really like that boat. I work on big CAT engines like the 35 series. That boat is a hell of a deal if everything checks out.
|
I figured no reply out of ICDEDPPL because he is on the phone making a deal

In 2000, Sea Ray upgraded to the 3126 Cats for a bit more grunt. BTW that boat is not an Express Cruiser, it's a Sundancer. The Express Cruiser has straight shafts instead of v-drives and no transverse cabin.
Interesting thread, something for everybody..... :wuerg019: RR |

Our buddy just bought one with Diesels and that boat is amazing.....he is the Same guy with a 41 Apache, 38 Top gun, and had the 36 Apache too. The Diesel cruiser gets all the work load now, it's fast, fun, reliable, and no shortage of space to move around. |
Anyone looking at a older large Searay needs to do due diligence on it.
http://www.yachtsurvey.com/searay_ba...re_bottoms.htm Also the Cat 3116s has some major issues both in the marine and RV applications |
Buy Baronmarines 40ss.

Buy Todds SS and enjoy a boat for a few years that needs absolutely nothing. If you don't like it flip it for what you paid for it.
Not to often you see a 17 year old boat in that kind of condition and his wife drives it so it's not Beat like a Red Headed Stepchild like his Cigarette is. |

http://www.yachtsurvey.com/searay_ba...re_bottoms.htm My 410 was a 2000 model and built like a tank. I miss the boat but I don't miss the expense of maintaining a boat in a wet berth! RR |

Interesting piece and some valid points but at the end he said. "Will Sea Ray survive the mistake? Only time will tell, but meantime I wouldn't make any bets on Brunswick stock.". Given that article was posted in November 2002 and in 2017, Sea Ray are still very much a leader in the industry, I wouldn't be too concerned. I'd still recommend some survey work as always but don't let it stop you buying a Sea Ray.

RR All it is saying is be careful and have a proper survey done by a informed and diligent surveyor. A wet balsa cored hull on a boat that size would not be worth trying to fix unless someone wanted a lifelong project. Many in the Searay and survey world know of the problems. |
That's an eye opener ^^^^^^^^ TM

What does something like that cruise at? 20? Let`s talk him down $30K. It may not be bargained priced , but the condition inside and out and mechanical does not reflect a bargain priced boat. It's a 9.8 out of a 10. And the only reason it doesn't get a 10 is because the plastic is no longer on the toilet. The old saying " you get what you pay for" and " it's far cheaper and far less headaches to buy them in excellent well cared for shape than it is to try to bring them back from poor care and maintenance " |

What does something like that cruise at? 20? . The guys from Statement bought a 55 diesel cruiser and we all made fun of them at first, now after riding in it, I get what it's all about. It's a blast! hard to beat cruising in the rough but still having your beer not spill :) http://i65.tinypic.com/20itidg.jpg |

Knots? Pretty close. With 3126 Cats (350 hp) mine cruised effortlessly at 20-21 knots (24-25mph) with people, gear and plenty of diesel. Flat out was 26-27 knots (32 mph).

I can't remember where I saw it but I saw it on a brokerage site , a 50 foot Albanian built cruiser with Russian Diesels powering some surface drives built by the Polish navy. It was a Steal. Now that I think of it, pretty sure it was built of steel. |

Just go get the boat I posted on Craig's List. I will come up to Chicago and drag that pesky Cigarette away, I will not even charge you for taking it. Then you can enjoy sipping on scotch and smoking a cigar while at cruise without worrying of any spills. Just don't change your avatar style. :lolhit:

I`m warming up to the idea of the cruiser life. Some nice diesels, cruise wherever I want without worry. A 410 Sea Ray ignores 4' waves, the only time I ever backed off was in a monsoonal storm and the waves were 6-8 foot breaking on the deck. We slowed to 15 knots and stayed dry. I've never spilt a drink when underway. Problems with Cat 3116? If you Research and dig too deep, you'll never buy a 3116, a 275 Verado, a Yamaha HPDI, a Bravo sterndrive, an early 496, a gen v 502, a Volvo etc, etc. Good engines that are serviced properly and not abused run well. Caterpillar build good engines and Sea Ray build good boats. Simple! If you own a cruiser, you may arrive after everybody else but they'll all be jumping on board when you get there to wash their faces, stretch their legs, straighten their hair, top up their drinks, eat and relax. :) RR |
You could still wear your cigarette jacket on the swim platform while looking at all the peasants.
:cool-smiley-011: |

One day when I went boating on the Sea Ray with a group of friends, as we returned to the marina, the only Cigarette Top Gun I know of in Thailand was pulling up to the dock. We'd had a great day out and one of my (non boating) friends looked over at the "noisy race boat" and said.......
"Why does it have number 1 written on the side? Is that for the 1 person on board who had a fun day out?" RR |
