If you go withOUT your boat, you will be madder then a midget with a yoyo. Seriously. There is SO much to do, and so many places to go, and absolutely everything is accessible by water. We get there thursday morning and stay until sunday afternoon, and never even get back in the truck till it's time to go home. We have been staying at "Lakeview Resort" and really like it, they have lots of cottages that are water level and its close to everything by water, but if you don't have a boat it wouldn't be a good place cause it's on the toll-bridge side. "Holliday Shores" is really nice too, with individual cottages and in a nice cove
Not true at all.
We go every year and have never pulled the boat up. Yet we keep going back year after year. A boat is nice to have there but it certainly is not a must, we rent one for the shootout it's self and that works just fine.

If u stay at tan tar a make sure you get a covered slip. The uncovered slips get the holy hell beat out of them. Covered slips are farther back and alot better. I learned that the hard way.

That's it...of all the folks that go year after year and have fun.
I am the only one that does so by not bringing a boat....get that sh*t out of here. Of course the boat is fun to have but don't act like it is 100% needed to enjoy your self.

Cabs can be a bit pricey if you start jumping from one side of the lake to the other and have to cross the community bridge. It is no short ride say from Camden on the Lake to Captain Ron's. That one would cost ya. As close as you are I'd bring the Fountain and enjoy the event by water in your own ride.
