I took that boat for a ride last week and made an offer on it. I wouldn't be scared at all of the V-10's. I would have owned it if it hadn't needed so much paint work and there body shop backed up for 2 months.

thanks for the replies guys. not sure yet what we are going to do but the 380 at PBC in loto is badass looking and would probably be a fun ride to have.

Default Just a FYI

I emailed Ilmor, they told me they are no longer rebuilding or working on their v10 engines.

That's not necessarily true. The response that you got was probably from their front office, but I've had stuff done very recently and I know others have as well. If you approach them via an Ilmor dealer, they are decent to work with.

Adam thanks for the info. The reason I started to ask them questions was I was looking at a 2009 magic scepter with a 625 in it. Where does one find a Ilmor dealer? Also I included her response below. She was extremely helpful in solving me with a ton of questions I asked.

"As for the rebuild of these it was something that we did here, until just recently. Because of the direction that we have taken with our company, racing, inboard V8’s and sterndrive V8’s. We don’t really have the man power to do the rebuilds in a timely manner. We do have a source for you to send rebuilds. He is an engineer at Chrysler/Dodge and was instrumental in working on the Viper program when these engines were in production at Dodge. His name is John Eduards and his number is 248-420-1564.

Regards,
Melanie"

Depending on where you are located, reach out to Lance at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, MO or AJ at Barrett Custom Marine in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Those are the two shops that I use depending on where my boat is when it needs service. AJ is one of, if not the most, experienced Ilmor guys on the West coast.

There going to keep getting harder and more expensive to keep alive. The track guys are already giving up on racing them.

That doesnt surprise me on bit. When IImor “acquired” Scorpion racing engines. They stated they wanted to use there high hp platforms. Because the v10 had to weak of a deck to make any serious hp in a boat. That and a dwindling parts resource
