They will still make them but $$$. Updated pricing is on their website. The intake is a very nice piece and you can really see the time and effort required to build one.

There were a few methods of extrude honing the stock intake. Then there were a few people porting them too, but they would cut the plenum off the bottom so they can get to the runners then weld it back on. If they could get a hundred more horsepower out of the stock intake I still dont know if I could use it - it is one ugly son of a gun.

Somebody should summon Vortech Bandit. He has modified the 496 as much or more than Raylar. Extremely creative guy and spent a lot of time but really got the 496 pumping.

Just to add - their starting platform was not black side mercruiser it was the GM HP 3 - 8100 with 525 to 550 hp to start with inwhich was a lot better starting point than the Merc HO mag 425 hp. The HP 3 - 8100 used MEFI 4 compared to PCM 555 inwhich early years of 555 no one had a remap program offering.

How many safe Horses can you get out of remapping the PCM on a HO?

Why would you run an engine around the Dayton 500 at half throttle?

If I had 2X as much power as 2nd place, sure; just enough throttle to stay out front.
