Thanks to her entire offshore racing family, Kellie Hibdon-Broaddus’ racing dream came true last weekend,

at first when reading this it seemed like the type of feel good sentimental story i love but by the end i was like WTF I thought Offshore racing wanted to be taken seriously but have they gotten so desperate for teams that they allow a driver that has NEVER raced or driven that type of boat to enter the day before a major race. How can a sport that allows that EVER be taken seriously. Matt I am surprised you would write this making it sound like you applauded it, sorry but sentimentaly does not enter into a race where boats are on a river traveling in excess 100 MPH and obvisoulsy it is dangerous since an accident between two very seasoned teams resulted in a fatality during the same race. I am not a racer but if i was i would have to question my race organization that would allow this to take place

It looks like there will be heated debate on this story. It is cool that the couple got to race the boat together before it is sold, but I can also understand the "OSO safety police" side of it too. I've never been there, but it sounds like a pretty tight course. I wonder if the officials made her take the dunk test before the race?
