I have enjoyed going to KW for a combination of Races and Poker Run for the past decade., and personally booked all my lodging and travel last winter....
Another thought..
Looking at the current disaster as it exists, ( lack of fuel, food , water, housing, electric, food, workers, and ect) it is going to be a long stretch to think that it is even humanly possible to host such an event in 7 week.
There are many people, (that lived in the Keys), that have lost everything in there lives. They need substantial amount of time, and support to rebuild there lives before anyone can expect them to care about a group of powerboaters, coming to there community for events
The infrastructure , community medical support, hospital staff, and general services need to be established to support the locals before any island guests.
Maybe the "true champions" in boating, will be the ones that make the donations and sacrifices to help the families in need to rebuild there lives.

im telling you, they hussled to make it happen after Katrina (or Andrew) I forget which. But I remember sitting in the drivers meeting and Stu saying how important these events are to their economy and they did everything possible to ensure the show went on. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on it's gonna happen.

Of note:
I LOVE boating in the keys, and I sure hope the Poker Run happens if the Races happen.
But I can't imagine what kind of debris, boats, or other sunken "treasures" await those boating through the Keys over the next few months to few years.
I've got a buddy who is/was hot to trot on taking his beautiful 382 Formula with Illmors & Indys down for the PR/Races this year; and I was going to help him facilitate. But I think we are going to hold off for now.

I've heard word from reliable sources Stu has no plans of canceling either.

It was hurricane Wilma in 2005. I was in KW and the show did go forward, but if you remember, everything was limited (food, mostly cash, alcohol, supplies, gas etc.) and very uncomfortable. Yes that hurricane was in late Oct but it was no where near as bad as Irma. I totally but totally agree that KW wants us to be there and for us to go help the economy but it will be some what limited as they got hit hard, much much much worst than Wilma in 2005. KW as it is prior to Irma has very limited docking. Lots of dock where destroyed. The bight not to bad but a lot of the other ones. I'm not trying so sound negative but i am being realistic. Many of you have never experience a high powerful storm like this. I have with Andrew and luckily Andrew didn't go the keys. I hope nothing for the best for the people in keys to get back on their feet like they seem to be doing and for 2017 KW race/poker run to be a success.
