I give up
I'm living in ontario California , ya right I wish . were up here in ontario canada ! and feeling very pissed with the winters the price of things like fuel at 1.22 a liter equals times 3.8 = 1 gallon 4.63 mostly tax and at the marinas in the summer fuel price this past was 5.35 a rip .some people believe that they were born in the wrong century I believe I was born on the wrong continent .

So......Move. Seriously, if you are that unhappy, move, life is too short.
I am not too far from you, Western NY, I admit I sometimes get tired of the winter but overall I love where I live. Great boating, hunting, cross country skiing etc. If we could get rid of the downstate liberals I would be even happier here. Padraig |
Here in Mn marina gas is about $1 - $1.25 higher then the local gas station. Insurance, liability, docks, maintenance, convenience, employees, ect isn't cheap. I always fill up wile on the trailer, how ever I also under stand why fuel prices are higher on the water.

Comes down to usage more than price, if you only buy a couple hundred gallons a year then it costs you $144 bucks extra a season, $12 a month if you average it over the whole year. My mother in law rants about fuel prices yet drives about 150 miles a week in a 2.0 4 cyl that probably gets 25 mpg! I can be fuel conscious as I buy $400-500 a month of fuel so if there is a 40 cent difference it can add up to a decent number by the end of the year. There is a "gouge station" at the end of an offramp that is literally 50-60 cents a gallon higher than the gas station I use 1 mile away. I swear people must not even look at the price! On a really busy road there is only 5 gas stations spread out over about 5 miles. Road ends at the beach on one end, ends in a swamp at the other. Real estate is pricey so there won't be any new stations built. |
Don't feel that bad......ya we get to boat all year however...
*fuel at dock is $3.50 - $4.00 right now * We get no seasonal break in insurance even if you don't use the boat. Cost is year round no matter what * Boat more means more sh*t to break * Since this is OSO.....it's salt water, it might as well be toxic acid so no one wants their boat in it anyway and any boat that gets used here might as well be a paper weight or just disposed of in the trash when the owner is done. |

Sure somewhere warm year round would be nice, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. And I’d never be able to leave my boat parked outside in my driveway in Florida like I do up here.

Why is gas higher on the water?

----Because they can!!!......Bill S
