Gary, did you ever finish that 16 Whaler you were working on for a customer? |

Lets see, on the pad, I will lay/fab up a 5.5" wide pad, approx 1/8" - 1/4" thick to whatever length makes sense. I'll then make jigs to hold it in place until the glue cures. Then fill the edges/voids of the newly installed pad. Badda boom, badda bing. Had one planned for the Sonic but w/its round keel (from its Donzi heritage) it would have been a PIA! Attached a picture of the existing Convincor transom/bottom and its begging for a pad. Safari, Ill read anything you can point me to on strakes. Had big plans for them on my last 24' Sonic but ran out of gray matter when time presented itself. A while back I found a really good thread on here about them and spent most of one night reading it. It ended w/two of the knowledgeable contributors agreeing that it was as likely they were added to keep the Cubans from sliding off the molds while working on them as it was for performance ;) Only here could you read 30 pages of input and end w/that :) Jeff, we're close on the Whaler. I have a customer trying to figure out what he wants. I keep telling him its coming out too nice to cut corners now. I want one w/a V-4 on it. Cool lil tid bit is I was able to reuse all the ('1967) 52 yr old windshield glass and trim.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c3b8f93231.jpg .https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f04e4b1484.jpg |

Lost track but I think...., two layers of 2 oz mat and four layers of 1708. Or something close. Cool thing was, laying up glass repays you for paying attention and I was reminded. Rolled it over and over until content. Im 25% of the way there and already it would take a whack from a 2 lb hammer. Love working w/glass! Jeff, thank you for your comments. I had an epiphany w/the Sonic I did down there. My head was so fried w/doing that boat outside, in Fla, the Mrs said, “let’s go to the Miami show and buy something. I listened and we went both yrs I was doing that project. Didnt find anything I’d be satisfied with. Then it dawned on me. Its the satisfaction of building it yourself that cant be replicated. When I was young I dreamt of being able to write that check. Then when I could, I chose not to as I thought it would not be the same. Pixs attached of progress on the bracket and the section of my shop I’m going to enclose. Always wanted a clean room for motor work and I think this is it. |
Like I said in an earlier post, one in a million. |
Looks like class work, great project. Love your shop, nice 'wall of fame' with some good memories I suspect. RR . |
Love the shop |
Thx guys. Much appreciated. |

Then the wife came out of the basement in the house, reminding me we had two unused TVs after our last move and wouldn’t I like to have one in the shop 🤓 I love that woman. F-1 races and Browns and Gators football games in the shop next yr! |
