It took me one x wife and 83 x girlfriends to get it right.
My old man used to say, "First mate aint happy, aint nobody happy".
She lets me get away w/murder (and does not read here) and w/doing the repair business in our pole barn, she has no clue if Im working on a customers project or ours
She walks by motors on stands, props on bench, etc and has no idea I just bought them
A while back I figured out the way to get her approval on big projects/purchases was for her to text me approval so I had the proof.
One time she came home w/her daughter and son inlaw and saw "our" new/used 21' Checkmate and asked whos boat it was.
When I told her it was ours, her reply was, "it better not be".
The clan looked on and waited for reply/fireworks.
I showed her her texted approval on my phone and she walked away shaking her head.
Rest of clan ;laughed.
It now requires alcohol to get those texts from her.
The required amount goes up w/each text.

You are correct sir.
Laid it out last weekend just in time for my 60th b. day party.
Paint outlines but it worked for the party 😎
Did sneak a bit of work on the boat in engineering the Bimini top and slides for it.
Next is to pull the motors and bracket back off so I can finish glassing/gelling the bracket before reinstalling for initall rigging layout.
Picking up boat stands tomorrow so I can pull it off the trailer to install the pad.
Slow but sure......
