Yeah but the promoter can't overcharge all the teams for dockage, crane rental, parking, tent set up, food catering, etc! Combine that with the normal pricing of S. FL vs. Bahamas overcharging and the Bahamians will complain they didn't make anything either!

Here's the deal. Resorts World Bimini spent a LOT getting us all there last year. We raced, and we left. That's the problem. If it was a week long event and they got a weeks worth of room revenue out of it spending 300k getting the boats there would make sense. But it isn't, and probably wont be.
On the rest of the comments, im glad OSO has the issues with racing all sorted out. One of you please start an organization that has endurance ocean racing, tv coverage (last years Bimini race was on NBC Sports btw), real prize purses and real corporate sponsors. We'll be the first team to sign up. If you don't, frankly, shut it. Unless you're actively coming up with something better (I can promise none of it is as simple as you think), stop running down the current format.

Odd, I've been a lifelong supporter and critic of sports, all the major profession sports in my home state and others have received my wrath. We're stuck with the Detroit Lions and they get huge amounts of criticism from the fan base.
Yet none of them ever said publicly " If you don't, frankly, shut it ". Guess that's why they're called profession, even with TV revenue they want fans at the events.

Resorts World is owned by the Genting Group, a large-scale multi-national corporation. My best guess was that the $400,000 Resorts World Bimini spent to host last year's race came out of a discretionary marketing budget, meaning a portion of the overall marketing budget used to "try things." If the investment returns to the corporation's satisfaction, the venture might (key word) get funded again. If not, not—and clearly this was a case of not.

All boat racers with the exception of Johnny T and maybe Steve Curtis are paying out of their own pocket to go racing and promote the sport they love. That’s pretty common knowledge to anyone that follows anything about boat racing. But I suppose Johnny telling people to come up with reasonable solutions or keep their opinions to themselves in a not quite as professional way is the worst most unprofessional thing to happen to offshore racing and the fans that pay zero dollars to watch the races should boycott. (Insert sarcasm here).

NO BS, it could get all done and structured in a few weeks and be ready to race by next season at the latest. And please don't challenge me to "do it", although you can "hire" me to get it done.
