Usually it's just "oh well, it's what he liked" or "mankind has to push the limits" or some bull. There's kids now without a father, sisters, brothers, uncles, etc. without family members for what? Because it's his day to go?
Hi Indy

Yeah man, a lot of times it is because "their number is up" or however one says it. With that said, circumstance generally plays a huge part but some times that's what it all boils down to.

R.I.P. Everyone please be as careful you can. Crashes at very high speeds are usually fatal. It doesn’t matter if you are on land, on the water, or in the air. I am guilty of wanting to go fast just as much as anyone, but my pocketbook will not support todays’ fastest toys. Enjoy your toys but if things seem a little dicey, back off the throttle. Be safe and have fun.

I cannot comprehend comparing a fast boats pleasure to the loss a family suffers. Be safe.

If modern jets only came equipped with throttles, a ruder, and a couple limited travel trim switches, I'd say say that statement would be spot on. There is zero reason this continues to happen when today you can buy a boat that actually flys, or cars that drive themselves.. People have to demand the performance marine market come out of the 80's, before owning fast cats is limited to those who can self insure em. Operator experience has little to do with it now...

My sincere condolences to the families affected.

Its not so much the hull handling the power as much as its the ever changing unpredictable conditions on the water....we all take a certain amount of risk driving a boat at almost any speed....i have hooked my old scarab doing 45mph and almost got thrown out of the boat!

I'm all for big power, but with an equal amount of control. Skipping across the water at a buck fifty plus on the mercy of the waves ranks up there with wingsuit flying. What's needed is more technology invested into the hull than under the hatch. Example, this electronics customer of mine out of Asia. Boat cruises at a buck twenty pretty nicely using same principles as a modern catamaran. But Gracefully...
