This maybe a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyways. Would being belted in 5 or 6 point help these people stay alive. It seems getting throwing out of the boat when it spins and "sliding" down the water at 100+mph is whats killing them. Would staying with the vessel and letting the vessel take the beating help??? Granted you still have to worry about drowings. Or is crash so violent being strapped in just going to snap your neck?

In a full canopy boat, being strapped in will absolutely save your life way more often than not. I wouldnt want to be strapped in an open cockpit boat.

Per Brad Kloepfer’s sister, Kim, on facebook today, Connie Kloepfer has passed away due to injuries from the crash.
