hey guys,
Ive got an old 2jz-ge engine(Toyota Supra) laying around and I was toying with the idea of replacing the 5.7 Chevy that’s in my boat with it.
I’ve built and tuned these motors before and I can get to about 500hp at the crank for around $1k so it’s cheap hp.
So at the surface it seems like a cool idea but I know there’s got to be more to it so I’m hoping you guys can tell me why I shouldn’t do it.
As far as dimensions, it’s only one inch longer than the SBC. I would have to switch to through hull exhaust and it would be a dry exhaust system so I know there’s going to be other things affected by the heat. What would be some of those issues? Can the SEI alpha one drive or the flywheel be adapted to a different engine?
This probably isnt the most practical idea but I’d appreciate you guys indulging me here a bit.
Cheers 🍻

But you bring up a good point. What’s the power limit for an alpha? Is the alpha the deal breaker that makes this a useless project?

back in the day, they also put alpha drives behind BBC's in Sea Ray 32 Pachanga's, 33 Donzi's, and a hand full of others. Seeing as how that trend (or the drives) didn't last long they quit the BBC & Alpha combo...
