Obviously your not painting in a booth so how do keep any flying insects or anything else from ruining your still wet paint?

we have unwilling mastered the art of removing insects with X-acto blades. But these are just primer coats. Next month we will wrap the sides with plastic sheets and build an enclosure of sorts for top coat and clear.

For the smaller pieces we made a booth of sorts

Found some waves, that hopefully will go away with 320 & 400 grit before we apply the paint

Flip down Center arm rest. The sides will get vinyl shaped like the center piece and the backside will become a small third seat when fliped up

What are you planing for the bottom paint?

Open72,

i don’t want to keep her in the water, so she will stay on the trailer for now until I find a long term solution. I don’t see being on the water past a week at a time, so anti fouling is not a requirement. I’m open to hear what you guys think about what bottom paint to use.

The hull will most likely be a very light (bright) silver, so a light grey would be my preference from a palate perspective

The original shape of where the cap meets the hull had more of a duck bill shape, so all of this area was built up with foam, glued in with epoxy and then glassed in.

What model length, beam & year is your Magnum?........When you splash her she's going to be a floating fortress!...what's the back story on how you acquired her?......love the build!

Scippy,

i bought her around 4 years ago, as I understand it the original owner went to jail, and had something to do with casinos. The boat was reposed by the marina and a shabby boat painter bought at a good price, he touched her up and sold her to me.
I got her for $38k. She had two Mack M7 620 HP Diesel engines, one of which blew soon there after.

I had the engine rebuilt, a story for another time, but let’s just say I had people come out of reteirent and drive half way across Florida to get her going again. After many sea trials, several burned out turbos and many futile attempts to get her dialed in, we never got her to ride the way she should. So one day when I had her out of the water I thought maybe I should just start from scratch, and that is what I’ve been doing for the past 3 years. I’m not a “boat builder” by trade but I’ve built several boats, cars etc. I have been around boats of all types since before I could walk.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with her when I’m done, and though this might sound crazy to some of you, I’d like to build another one maybe, but for that to happened have to sell this one or get a divorce. :)

40 feet length ,I added three feet with the euro transom/engine bracket

shes 12.5 feet wide in her widest point but around 9 feet at the stern
