First thing to die when you get water up to the top of the oil pan. Starters. If you are lucky that's as high as it went. However, if I was trying to sell and the only problem was starters, we are talking 75 bucks for cheap ones. And even if on the tight side, by removing the headers/manifolds, 3-5 hour labor. Something is being hidden. Just my 2 cents. BE CAUTIOUS.

Like others have already said the chances of 2 starters being bad are so very slim unless they both got submerged. Don’f Be afraid to walk away.

Im with you, I really wanna hear more.

Wishing the OP all the best, there's probably a lot more to this than the little bit you've told us but there's certainly a big element of doubt. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Only way I would be pursuing that boat is if it was CHEAP (~ the price without power).....AND I was able to perform all the work....AND I had a borescope or leak down tester

I bought a boat in the winter (cold climate) without running it.....it was a great price.....I performed a leak down, oil filter media inspection and lash check on both engines. I made sure (as much as I could in a day worth of inspection) it had good bones first.

I rolled the dice and got lucky.

After I went through the carbs and ignition tuning it ran great.

Good luck to you ....but as others have said....be wary!!

See if you can at least turn the motors over using a breaker bar to see if they are hydro-locked or otherwise seized. If I was in this situation, I would next probably offer to replace the starter myself so as to hear the motor run. If the seller doesn't give you this option or sale contingency, than I think you have to assume the motors are shot.

Yea what all others have said...Without being able to start the engines, the WHOLE (2) drive trains are suspect at best....

Agree with Dean. If you cannot fire the engines & shift the drives while running, next step is to check the boat for rot. If it is what your looking for only pay what it's worth as it sits. In this case a hull minus power/drives.
