I remember vividly how even with my inner gut telling me to run I convinced myself to buy a piece of sh*t boat long ago, it was the boat I wanted and wanted then not later and I had money burning a hole in my wallet. Don't be like me.

The motors would be the least of my worries. You need to have a survey done to check for rot or moisture in the hull. You need to have someone that knows boats to check for wood rot before I would hand this guy one dollar. You can replace engines but if the hull has rot the boat is going to the landfill. Jeff wurl

There's a lot of other electrical stuff in the engine bay. Trim pumps, tabs, batteries and wiring. If she's been wet, the water may have splashed around everywhere so there's a lot to check.
An increasing number of people here have a bad feeling about this boat, I'm one of them. I still wish you the best of luck but you have only committed some travel time and a few related expenses, you're not obligated to buy this boat if it doesn't feel right. You can refund the vendor his very fair gesture of your extra night in the hotel and come back home empty handed if you want. Might be a cheap way out.

if I even traveled 30 miles to check out a boat and it need starters and the owner couldn't find the title I'm not sure if I'd kick him in the nutz or take his wife out for dinner.

Thanks for all the advice guys. To wrap this up, I got back home late last night with no boat.
It went as far as me going to the sellers house and helping him search for the title which was never found. Im out $600 on the cost of the trip but the silver lining is it kept me from buying a 272 located in my town that I was going to pull the trigger on before the drive to MS. On the 12hr drive back I had some time to think and realize I should pass on that one too due to condition.
The search continues.
