There's no recipe or cocktail concoction by a mermaid for this. We are of the sea and anything that floats thereon has us under its spell. I just found an article in Motor Boating & Sailing, from 1973, that got to me, and inspired me to start this new thread with the same title. For most of us, boating is an eternal love affair and the idea is that this thread is about the romancing of that special vessel. Weather She takes You across the shining ocean or along a meandering river, may Your adventures together; yesterdays, todays and tomorrows, set You free.

My wish is that this article and these three videos, inspire You to share Your personal experiences with tales of affection for a certain one, or like often is the case when it comes to boats, a confession of having a wandering eye.

Yes, the Merrick Lewis film "Run Sunward" was an excellent film, and a lot of it was due to the narrative by John Crouse. I remember talking to John about 20 years ago about his and Don Aronow's friendship with the Swedish family Boghammar from Stockholm. Their kids are the ones named as American while getting towed in the Italian race depicted. I gave John the contact info to the daughter Pia in the family and he later told me he was delighted to hook up and share old memories. Few did more to market offshore racing from the late '50s and on than John Crouse. Don Aronow was smart as usual and had John as his personal P.R. guy for years as You know. The El Paso, Texas 'Ranger' that by way of the Naval Academy and the USS Missouri found the ocean's allure. John, a legend that documented an offshore racing era, and left a legacy for many to treasure.

Next temptress up will be The One that made me lose my balance at the 1999 Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance and experience love at first sight.
