Outerlimits Race Boat
That boat looked great in Key West. I understand it was more of a "learning" week, given it was brand new. I did not see Sunday's races. Any issues, or were they just taking it easy on the maiden voyage? Beautiful boat, i'll certainly be following and cheering for OL.

It did look good. I have some video of it running but can’t download it from my phone? |
Boat looked and sounded great all 3 days. Ran all the laps. I call that a good race week for a new boat.
|
The boat looked awesome, and the crew deserves a ton of credit for not trying to mix it up with the other teams. We have seen too many others do the opposite only to end up upside down at turn one. Good job!
|
It was obvious the boat wasnt on pace with the lead boats, but I thought it was a good showing for a new team. Sounded strong and not 1 mechanical issue... like was stated above ran every lap.
The last day they let Crc mix it up and run with the supercat boats... I am pretty sure they raced that mti in supercat 7 years ago or so... Obviously it has bigger engines now, but he literally could play with every boat out there and just gap them (I understand power advantage), but the boat never once looked unsettled or flighty... I'm assuming the supercat spec boats are trimmed for max rpm where he was just cruising? It was amazing to me to watch the different attitudes at the same speed. |

I talked to several people that were at the races, and they all said that OL boat was so far behind it was embarrassing. No one goes RACING and takes it that easy or to look that bad. with all that said- there was another brand new team with a driver that has never raced before. The Dependable Skater. That boat was FAST!! Ran up with the leaders for the 2 days it raced. Ya it had some issues but it proved it had speed!! |
For those who gave compliments, Thanks. We under propped on purpose all week to learn the boat, not sure how that's embarrassing. We had one hour in the boat before KW and didn't want to F-up. We didn't spin out, roll the boat or break. We finished every race. To us that was a success. It's the toughest class to step into in all offshore racing with all the big name veterans in it. For the nay sayers, if you think it was so embarrassing why don't you get one and join the class and see how you do on your first time out in KW. Everyone in our class was impressed with our performance. We passed a boat on wednesday and sunday thats been racing all season.

Sunday was our best day, most comfortable day in the boat. Passed a boat on lap 3 and kept the pack in sights. We were gaining 2 seconds a lap on Myrick and JT every lap. We ended up 5th sunday and 5th over all. |

A 388 has been a dominate boat in that class for years and Mark Kowalski is no stranger to the class by no means. Better do some homework. This wasnt their first race. |
Vinny,
The boat is absolutely beautiful ! You guys looked like a class act. Too bad there wasn't a trophy for best Hauler, that thing is beyond Bada$$. I spent more time checking it out friday night than any of the boats... Best of luck. Jeff |
I would take anything he has to say with a grain of salt. Guy has something negative to say in nearly every outerlimits thread. |
Zero embarrassing about what you guys did, that is just an amateur comment.
Congrats to you guys and can wait for the 2020 season when you guys will be out there really mixing it up. |
Like I said- I wasn’t there, I was relaying what other people said. |

The OL really wasn’t too far behind on Sunday. It looked much better than on Friday, I wasn’t there weds. I’ve been driving fasts boats for quite a while, but every time I see these super cats race I respect the chit out of them. They are on it from start to finish and to jump straight into that class takes big balls. Also, that hauler is amazing |
For a rookie Supercat-class team, finishing fourth overall—in a new boat with borrowed power—in offshore racing's most competitive segment (my opinion) out of eight boats isn't a poor performance. Actually, it's a good one. The team has much to be proud of.
There was nothing embarrassing about SV Racing's showing in Key West. Nothing. And I wouldn't slam MTI too hard, Precision, as MTIs took first place in two out of the three races there last week. Dependable looks to be a rocket and Mark Kowalski is one hell of a throttleman, but the team had one DNS and two DNFs in three races. Running up front for a bit is impressive and cool, but so is finishing a race. But I give that new Dependable Marine team the same credit I give the SV Racing team. They worked their butts off to compete. Even the most casual fans of the sport know the track record of the Skater 388 on the racecourse. But that does not mean everything else sucks. That's just silly. Final standings from the Race World Offshore website, https://raceworldoffshore.com/results/. |

Thanks Matt, see we fans need more detailed reporting on each boat, so some of us don’t get opinion info. LOL and just for the record- I never think what Vinny or any of these guys do is embarrassing, obviously that word went a little far with everyone and stuck. But you can have embarrassing races and performances it’s all part of the sport of competition, that I hope we all can agree on. I have big respect for the guys that do it. And the embarrassing word was taken out of context I feel in the grand scheme of things. you have to remember that most people watching just see a boat far behind and don’t know about maybe why that is like the Team’s agenda. Just wanted to Clarify my comments. I know it can be taken wrong in writing. Trust me if it was in person I’d get the point across better. with that said- I think it’s great there is another team in the class PERIOD. |

Mr. Curtis seemed to be pretty impressed about how this hull ran in its initial water test. Congrats on its first taste of competition and I look forward to seeing it stretch its legs in the future.

Totally understand. When my son and I raced in our first OPA race (Class 6) in 2015, we finished the Warlock 3 days earlier and had about 1 hour of experience running the boat too. We stayed way on the outside so we wouldn't get in the way of any serious racers and finished the race. To our surprise, we beat a boat - came in 10th out of 11! :-) I laughed when my son took his hand off the wheel to wave to the helicopter. We were having fun and learning. This was from that race: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e528ca01b7.jpg |
