Smile Tennesee lakes

I recently retired and looking to get away from the NY weather, taxes etc... Was told to look at Tennesee. Have no family/friends there, so I don't know! How are the lakes for boating? Looking at a 2/3 bdrm on or near a lake. What price should I expect? Any info would be helpful. thanks!!

Bay Springs or Pickwick. He runs on both.

Pickwick is a beautiful lake, 42,000 acres from dam to dam (Pickwick Dam to Wilson Dam).
Real estate on the water is comparable to most other inland lakes.
There are plenty of marinas but only a couple of restaurants/bars.

I split my time between Pickwick and Bay Springs because I have a home at Bay Springs.

Bay Springs is about 28 miles from Pickwick, accessible by water via the Tenn-Tom Waterway.

Bay Springs is 9,000 acres and in my opinion more beautiful than Pickwick.

Bay Springs is a USCOE lake so there are no houses “on” the water which is one of the reasons I prefer it to Pickwick.

Pickwick is more socially oriented.
Bay Springs more laid back.

You also have Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley which are probably 150 miles upriver from Pickwick as well as all real estate on the river in between.

Our boating season begins in April and usually runs into November.

You will love it here.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

2/3 bedroom on the water I’d except to pay $350ish but that’s just a guess.

Off the water but near cut that price in half.

What’s the economy like down there? My wife and I have been debating about packing up and moving the shop south / central. Taxes up here are getting out of control.
