Re: A single Engine for who ever was asking

How fast will this boat run with the power it has (502/500HP)?
Do these boats run better with twins or a single?

Thanks Kirk

KN 11-15-2002 09:09 PM

Saber28 do you still have the boat pictured? That boat is absolutely beautiful. There was a boat just like that, I'm assuming It was the same boat. Staying at the same hotel as I was in Key West in 1995. Very nice:D :D

yup , still have it , still just about perfect condition.
classic lines never look dated , people still ask if it's new:D
the only way i would get rid of it would be to buy a SABER34 or 41:cool:

timucin 11-15-2002 10:06 PM

is there any racing boat by saber marine?

MIdnightRider 11-16-2002 01:33 PM

ITS OFFICIAL!

Just got off the phone with Apache Kid and he has his newly purchased 28 Saber in tow. He drove all the way to North Carolina to buy PURPLE HAZE! A white 28 with all white hardware, white AL swim platform, purple trim, Imco drives, steering, and double tie bars. The boat is completely rigged less motors. He will have the photos up when he gets back on Monday. Midngiht:cool:

SABER28 11-25-2002 07:45 PM

SABER28 11-26-2002 02:57 AM

hey jay,

nice looking boat:D what's going in for power?

the man's had cigarette's and apache's and bought another SABER, think that says a lot for SABER don't you think?

Apache kid 11-26-2002 08:37 AM

I don't know what I am going to put in it??? I am thinking 540's @600hp or hp500's or 525sc???

LEOPAJM 11-26-2002 09:13 AM

Jay..... what year is that ..... for motors I'd look seriously @ the new 525 natural mercs with the closed cooling ect......

JM

Apache kid 11-26-2002 10:12 AM

1995 with 52hrs. just like NEW. What kind of price you think they are going for???

LEOPAJM 11-26-2002 10:22 AM

Errrr .... don't know. Call Doug ,he'll get you a good price.

JM

Apache kid 12-05-2002 09:35 PM

I am going with the 525sc engines. I hope it makes a good package. I should have them in the boat in a few weeks:)

kaama82 12-08-2002 12:36 PM

Saber28, are you here???

SABER28 12-08-2002 01:03 PM

yes , i'm here, working on the house and trying to keep up with the conversations:D

SABER28 12-08-2002 10:27 PM

anybody care to chime in on why SABER has not made more 41's? with all the chatter on the apache thread about who owns what and has the rights to the name, etc. seems to me SABER is in the perfect position to satify somebodies desire for a NEW 41.

yet i count only 3 built, i know jim and doug have an excellent reputation with the 28' s like mine and all 3 41's are kick-a$$.

if i won the lottery tonight, i know where i would be tomorrow morning:D

WickedWon 12-09-2002 07:58 AM

Why so few boats, the answer

1. Saber's are practially cult boats, people who have them love them, I've built two, but to call them a small custom shop would be an understatement.

2. Custom boats to most people means power choice, color, graphics and misc. finishes. At Saber they can and will do anything, but you have to know what you want, hell I had them take the transom notch out of the 41' bottom, I don't think they ever asked me why ! But this also takes alot of time, they spent almost two months building my engine covers but I got exactly what I wanted. Construction like this takes real commitment on both the part of the customer and the builder ie, time, time, time.

3. If you're a " I am what I buy " type of customer the name Saber is not on the list, again those who know, know.

4. The Geelhoed brothers are not going to build a spec. boat for a boat show, nor are they going to advertise to any extent. It's just not them, like I've said before they're just a couple of very quiet guys, out in the middle of nowhere, building some of the best and baddest boats you'll find anywhere. JD

Is there a big difference between the cyclone and offshore?

littledcsrodshop 10-30-2006 07:35 PM

Re: Saber marine

I think the main differance is the Cyclones have the big HP
& come standard with external hydrolic steering.
