Just a general question... How much will a Blackhawk drive raise the prop from a standard length Bravo drive?

I was able to find the below post on a search. Can anyone verify that it is accurate? My Bravo drive now is deep. 8" below the keel. I don't think that adding a -1, -2 or-3" shortie will do too much. I am not considering in any way messing with the transom because it was just replaced recently. But...… it looks to me (if a Blackhawk raises it 8-10") that that could be a fun thing to do.

It is a direct bolt up to your Bravo shield and does the same thing as raising the X, my BravoX prop shaft is roughly 8"'s below the keel the Blackhawk mounted on the very same shield put the prop shaft about 2" above the keel. When running the only thing in the water is the skeg and the bottom of the props, and by the way the "Rooster Tail" was super! If you know where to look there are more around then the Skeptics think, setup right it will "Lay Waste" to a shortie which still has a fair amount of drag by comparison!

The blackhawk is really that short I had one one my 21 ft v hull whit stock bravo it was 6” below and whit the Blackhawk it was 2” above

keep in mind your boat have to have natural bow lift (rocker ) In the bottom because the drive is a full surface drive and don’t provide bow lift .
Parts are all Bravo one in upper and bravo 3 on lower except the vertical shaft but max machine worx can supply them and even convert to xr internals

I ended up whit a imco -3” that had same performance and handling but provided more bow lift that my hull needed

If you can find one, Blackhawks are like buying gold.... you'll never lose your investment.

FYI... I still have that -2 shorty if you're interested. From talking with Lip-Ship years ago, the -2 will free up the hull quite a bit.

I had a 29 Fountain straight bottom twin Merc 420's with bravos and tried Blackhawks

A couple things to consider, first is Blackhawks need EFI I had carbs and had to turn the idle way up to be able to put the Blackhawks in gear without the motors dying

My boat ran 82 mph with bravos, ran 85 with Blackhawks but bow steered really bad, Blackhawks gave zero bow lift

I believe the props are hard to come by so probing it may be an issue

Because the idle was turned up and the drives grab so much water the boat idled at like 10 mph
