You've made some good points. The 118mph V I mentioned(43 Scarab w/triple 1050's) , well when it's out , it is WOT from the moment it's in the water until they take it home BUT it's only out a couple of times a year.
My friends 31 Scarab is an old race boat(no cabin) and he runs it WFO (mid 90's)until he get's where he's going or it breaks . Unfortunatley he hasn't made is destinations too much lately.
Now his girlfriends 31 Scarab will run 79-80 all day long with a bunch of people and a full cooler and my boat will run 79-80 all day long also (as long as I change lifters once a season!) So I guess 70-75 is respectable and 80+ is badass.
Sound more realistic ?
Cool, cause if 70-71 is respectable, I'm doin ok with my 355 small blocks in my 31 scarab (the exact same boat as Scaryannes, excpet I have power bolsters & a windshield - lol)........

To answer the original post: Fast enough to find a well at the nearest bar !

Wicked Won, I also have to agree with what "Rice Hauler" posted as well. He did a good job of laying it out. Also, I will never forget that 1-2 mile stretch you had on everyone last summer at the SOTW poker run as I stood on the bluff at near Saugatuck.

32Fever, This has been a fun and interesting thread. Actually, I have enjoyed reading everyone's post.....and you were right----lots of opinions on this topic have been aired here---whew!

OK Chuck, I guess I am the bottom of the barrel of your friends being I run about 73 in the Aggressor! Guess I will need to beef up the Dominator and give you a run......found out today the blocks are 502's with 330 heads.... can't wait to see what I am getting myself into.

I have a question for this thread........ Is this speed we're talking about "at the bar after a few Capt.'s&Coke's, or is this actual speed on the water? Cause if it is "at the bar" then my 25 AT with 502 Mag mpi runs just under 80!!!Hiccup, really it does. On the water she runs 70.4,........... once!!!!! But then again it's not how fast you go, it's how well you go fast...Right?

Default Tonto Got The "Check Over Bill"

Robert , what did I tell you about reading the receipts ?! I'm still bummed that we're not gonna have the boat ready to bring down, but lets see, no tow, slip, fuel, maintenance, damaged props (following you in the flats) savings about $10,000, on the other hand no boat = more cocktails hmmmm, how much are those livers going for?

Have a safe trip, see ya next thursday, JD

Tom,
I'm no engine guru but I didn't know you could put 454 heads on a 502 block ? Aren't all 502's Gen 6 's ?
Do your homework and be leary of the mechanic.
