I don’t have to leave my house for deer and most other animals. Totally eco friendly by not having to drive anything. :)

That thing is straight out of Mad Max. I know nothing 0 about Tesla or electric cars. The truck looks freaking crazy and I like it. The only thing that has me scratching my head is the 14k tow rating and the 500 lbs quad squatting the rear end. Does it come with airbags? My camper squats my 1ton a bunch without airbags loaded. I think Im somewhere around 8 or 900lb tongue weight. All I can say is good luck and post some pictures of that bad boy when you get it.

With auto pilot, trips are easy :) I'd give up the EV part long before I'd be willing to give up AutoPilot.
Home to our marina is 140 miles round trip, and AP makes the trip 100x easier. We usually make the trip 2-4x / week in the summer. Round trip is about $4-$5 in electricity. If we ran a gas car those trips would add up!

Yea, I'm not sold on the looks, (wife thinks it's ugly) I actually LOVE the RAM. But I am sold on the no dents, no scratches part. I'm usually so paranoid parking anywhere. With this thing, between the stainless panels and sentry mode, I don't have to worry much.

I would seriously not go or not take my car places due to small parking lots / time of day /etc. I had a rental car for a week a while back (someone hit me on the highway)... zero stress with a car that's not mine! lol. But if the thing can take a sledge hammer, I don't think a shopping cart or door from another car is going to do much...

Not to mention the tri-motor is LESS money than a loaded RAM, with zero gas costs, zero oil changes... It's a shame because it's so low maintenance it's boring lol. I used to do all my own work on my cars. Now, there's nothing to do... (more time to replace engines and install steering on my boat I guess).

Yes, all version have air suspension, it can go up/down 8" of travel. The truck was 'squatting' because it drops the ass end in 'load mode'. so you can get stuff in the back easier. Max height is 16" of ground clearance. Same as a Hummer H1. It's also on 35" tires lol. They said that heavy duty trucks always ride like crap when un-loaded because the suspension is always a compromise between loaded/unloaded. And I can confirm from using many F250s/F150s/Rams. Air suspension gives you best of all worlds regardless of payload. The RAM with air suspension won a ton of awards and gets great reviews.

I plan to use it to tow my boat 2x a season to the marina, and possibly off road... I used to take my Wrangler to Rausch Creek and Paragon off road parks in PA when I was younger. I had a (well 3 jeeps, 2 Rubicons), on 35s. and it was a lot of fun. I miss having a 4x4 on 35s. I love my Model X, and loved my S before that, but have always been a truck guy. But I totally get the sports car thing now. But a truck just adds so much practicality. Moving desks, home improvements, trailers, tools to work on said boat. I have to move about a pickup's worth of branches/stumps/etc from my back yard to the recycling center this summer, but I'm waiting until next to have a truck.

If you're bored sometime, just schedule a test drive via the website. It's free and something to do.

The Rivian has a nice looking truck too! I saw a video of cold weather testing.

this stuff is so exciting. We haven't had anything like this in 100 years.

Ohh, and I loate GM on principal. They build crap and let people die to save money, but.... the new Hummer EV is... fairly bad ass. My fav part is the roof comes off and stores in the frunk!

WOW!!!! Thats really impressive. Is it a special charger you have to buy to charge it at home? How long does it take to charge a unit like that?

I'll keep my Diesel F250 4x4

2021 Rivian R1T Starting at $75,000

Towing and Payload Capacity

Rivian says that every R1T can tow more than 11,000 pounds and the pickup offers a payload capacity of 1760 pounds.

*Towing such a heavy trailer will surely deplete the battery more quickly than when cruising unladen, so buyers who plan to utilize the truck's capabilities would be wise to get the model with the largest battery pack.
*Adding the Max battery pack adds $10,000 to the bottom line
