That was my point with my buddy’s Cybertruck order. For heavy duty use, he plans to use his Duramax.
I’m not knocking electric. I have driven a number of electric vehicles from the economy class cars all the way up to Tesla’s top Model S. They are for sure fun to drive and very cool from a technological standpoint. But are they ready for prime time in a heavy duty market (where the Cybertruck will ultimately be classed)? Not yet. I was reading about people wanting to tow Airstreams and the like... the mileage theoretically drops by half. Supercharging can get up to 70 percent of a charge for the big battery pack in, if I read correctly, 40 minutes. That’s a long layover. You can be fueled in 10 minutes and down the road in 10 to 15 with the diesel. Cool concepts for sure, but I think there’s still a lot to be figured out. |
Saw a Tesla towing a small about 16-18 foot travel trailer yesterday. The car looked overloaded. I would be interested in talking towing distance v non towing.
