Sounds like a f250 will be fine for max of 500 miles a year and longest trip being from OK to Loto. If the bot goes to anymore runs in Florida I will pay a transport. So the longest behind my truck would be 250 one way.

this is what i was hoping to hear. thank you! i ordered a new myco trailer so i am hoping it will be well balanced.
AceTrailers.com. ps: I use an F-450 DRW pulling a total wt of appx 18,000 (incl trailer wt), but for occasional use at 10,000 lbs the F-250 should be adaquate. The real issue is not the ability to pull it. It’s all about stopping it and remaining stable in the process. Size and Weight do matter. |
A buddy of mine had an echotec F150 tows 12500k, it pulled my RV fine and RV was 10k but it's ass dragged. It would need helper springs. Now add fuel at just over 6 lbs a gallon, trailer, it would be too much, Silverado 2500 Diesel or F250 and I'd go diesel, rented a gas one to pull the RV once and on a slight incline it would downshift to 4k rpm and scream, for a F250, wasn't impressed, the chevy pulled 16k no issues. 2 or 3 times a year for a few miles, under 20 sure. You can always rent a F250 from Enterprise for $65 a day and not worry about wear/tear, ever. You know gas will be going up in the next 4 years, we may hit $4 a gallon as we did back in 2008. Big trucks were cheap then!

now I am worried an f250 wont do the job! I can't run a dually for daily use but I can afford to keep an f-150 and own a dually. it just feels like over kill for 500 miles a year 3-4 trips.

I rented a new F-250 has from Enterprise, my RV was new, empty dry weight was 8800 lbs. Drove it from Knoxville TN to Myrtle Beach, was good straight line, hit a hill, it would down shift and scream. My buddy's Turbo Diesel 2500 was a rocket. Drove it, hit the gas a little too much from a stop light turning left, turbo kicked in and I bout slid out the passenger side! It pulled my RV like nothing was behind it. I would NOT want to pull that boat with a gas 250, not to mention on my trip it are gas! Gas prices going up thanks to Beijing Biden. My marina gas went from $3.00 gallon to $3.70 since Jan 6 2021
