I have a 1/2 ton DD and a 1-ton tow beast.
I've been very happy with the decision to go this way. When it comes to towing for 'weekend events', I can fill up a bed very easily. And we know the longbeds are always better for towing. My F150 is 411HP & 434 lb/ft of torque, and it's a riot of a vehicle (6.2L); I'm even considering supercharging it for more fun. If you have the capability for such; I highly recommend it.

No matter what you tow with make sure you have it attached properly. Just saw this today.

Saw that on the news last night. The safety chain probably isn’t much more than what we yank engines with. Amazing...

Was probably mentioned in an earlier post but has everybody seen the insane prices for 250/350’s. Maybe I’ve just been up in the sticks to long. But damm! If I spent 80k plus on a truck it would have to be making me a heck of a good living “out of it”. I’m just looking at 2010/2015 and still shocked.
You can buy a nice brand new F350 dually for less than 55K............sure it will be gas, XL trim with power windows/locks but still a nice capable truck that will last decades or you can go Lariat/King Ranch whatever and spend 30K more! Used trucks are simply crazy prices, the savings aren't usually signficant enough to even consider used.

Trucks aren't badly priced, the options/trim packages are killing it. I bought a new leftover 2019 reg cab F150 XL (power windows/locks, chrome bumpers/alum wheels, rubber floor, 3.3 V6) for 22K (MSRP was like 32K). In 2013 I bought a leftover Silverado in the same trim (no power windows/locks though) and it was 18,300. 2010 I bought a new leftover (see a pattern here) 2010 F150 Lariat crew cab for 31,900 (MSRP 40,525), truck was loaded! Today (10 years later) that truck would cost me 55K+ (almost double).

I did the price, power windows comes with a $1075 package,,,, still crazy in my book but it will be what I end up having to do. This is with the new 7.2 gas, 10K upgrade for Diesel.

What ticks me off is they also drop a lot of the safety items off that saves you on insurance (all brands).
My issue is I really would like leather front power seats with a center console, again that kills you on all brands. I am wondering if I could swap a set out of a wrecked one.

I laugh here when people talk about ride,,,,, I have drove my old twin I beam ford from Florida to Indiana and back with a worn out broken down seat,,,,, want to talk about how those old front and rear leaf spring trucks rode! LOL

Lol I know right! Its the fantasy of knowing you can tow whatever you want. Big heavy loads towing up steep grades is what men do. Ikes Gauntlet here I come. Ive got rails in my truck for a goose neck or 5th wheel. I dont tow either but its nice knowing that I can. When we are hauling hay I use my neighbors 1990 model 1ton dodge. No need in tearing my sh t up...

I ran into a friend so to speak the other day locally and noticed he was driving a 2019 ranch king 450 dully loaded. Told him how nice it looked and I’d love it. Asked what he towed with it and he said whaaaaat? Hasn’t towed anything but said hey I’d be happy to tow your boat down to the launch (1 mile) just to see how it does. Wtf. Crazy. He’s on ss disability go figure. He has not towed a single damm thing with. 🙈
