No, I never had any blow out but the boat (like most straight bottom big heavy vees) would have a little porpoise if you didn't drag a little tab and it got on plane a lot easier if you dropped the tabs down a bit past neutral. Like stated above, I now leave the tabs neutral 99% of the time, drives in, jumps up on plane, kick the drives out to loosen the hull up a bit and don't have to touch tabs. Runs smooth and flat. instant noticeable difference in ride, performance. We're very happy with them. And they don't cost an arm and a leg. Couple hundred bucks, huge bang for the buck.

Can someone explain why and how these work. If the X dimension is 0-2" will it work? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this with such great results. It sounds like the golden mouse trap many have been looking for.

In all likelihood they probably made it much easier to determine correct trim whereas before the trim tabs kind of got in the way and would cover up incorrect trim and there was not enough wing on the back of the drives to create the lift needed for a big straight bottom boat. I bet it decreases fuel consumption quite a bit too.

To me, they're basically a "whales tale" that have been used on outboard motors forever. When I first saw Barrett put them on, I was like, "WTF is this crap?" But after the first run, I was absolutely sold. I've run a LOT of different straight bottom Cigs set up with nearly every configuration. Straight bottoms porpoise, this wing pretty much eliminates it. I'm interested to see if others will have the same results, but I really don't see why not.

Without having to drag tab, I'm sure the fuel consumption improves greatly like you said.

I've always found drives tucked in an drop some tab worked best to get big heavy vees on plane. Then you always had to fight porpoise trying to get the sweet spot where the drives are kicked out to loosen the hull but dragging a little tab to stop the hop.

In the Cig section when I first brought them up, a couple of the guys called Max Machine Worx in Havasu (where we got them) to see if they made them for 3 and 3a's...They don't. Only Bravo type drives. But I'm sure they could be fab'd pretty easily.

Max Machine Worx Power Boat Drives | Poker Run Boat Drives | Billet Lower End Performance Outdrives Lake Havasu Desert Storm

Here's a video River Dave did on them, kind've product review and talks about the design and benefits.

I got my cavitation plates on can’t wait to try them to see if any difference. I would think they would work on a #3 drive I have them on Trs drives.
