Suggestions needed for painting bravo drive

I dock mine in freshwater and noticed drive area where SS prop and carrier area on lower it's starting to flake off. What options to redo the lower and products to use. I currently have merc primer and black rattle cans

thanks

Sand area, wipe with alcohol, zinc chromate, and then phantom black paint.

Install Magnesium anodes on your boat and outdrive for fresh water use. Zinc is used for salt water.

I thought Aluminum for fresh water?

Yep, 100% ^^^ right there is the formula.

That primer makes a big difference and the Phantom Black is damn good paint for a rattle can.

no idea what primer you have...the zinc chromate we use typically comes in a green can with green top. It’s $15-20 per rattle can.

I have the merc primer(92-802878q52) and says it's for gear cases but is gray.

Also, can't remember if I changes the anodes 2 years ago when drive was installed new? Is there anyway to ID them?
thanks as always

Magnesium will effervesce if you put vinegar on it, or it will burn hotter and brighter than a meteor entering the atmosphere at night
