And how many logos will the jetski have? They will probably need billboard sized logos for the 130 ft superyacht!
I've noticed the one guy prefers to refer to himself as a billionaire attorney. That strikes me as odd for 2 reasons, simply because real billionaires would probably shy away from such a label and I've never heard of a billionaire attorney! Sure they might have gotten a billion dollars in total judgments over their career, but those aren't net dollars to the attorneys. Richard Branson was on the Today show yesterday and when the host addressed him and Bezos as the billionaires racing to space, Branson responded by saying he doesn't like that term because he still thinks of himself as a kid with $200 of his mothers money starting a business. Apparently his mom turned in a lost necklace and got a $200 (British pounds) reward and she gave it to him as a loan to start his first venture.

Just to show how thin the list of "billionaire attorneys" are this shows 2 and #2 is really Warren Buffet's long time partner, the wealth was not generated from legal proceedings.
I think Skip pointed Cigarette in the right direction with the center consoles, the new owners are going to dilute the brand (like what Harley Davidson did trying to have something for everyone). The other concern they should have............are they building something that their diehard fans can't afford? Their most popular boat in history (TG) is 500K+++ now, sure there are diehard fans on OSO but most likely wouldn't ever buy a new TG at that pricepoint. Where is the 130 foot yacht going to be priced? How many buyers in the world would want that? What's the break even point on R&D alone? Nor-tech built 2 80 footers and that experiment was over. Red boat was cool (like a big Magnum open) but the cabin was sparse and didn't even have a galley (kitchen), blue boat was more of a yacht but at 80 feet they were and oddity.........at 130 it seems a bigger oddity (50 feet bigger!).
With Bud Lorow no longer there, I'd think that is more telling than any article could point out.

Beginning of the end.
They will muddy up and lose focus of the brand. Starts with the guy that refers to himself as a billionaire lawyer. If he doesn’t know Attorney’s aren’t the most liked people in the world.

markets change in every industry. Adapting to those changes is what makes companies successful.

I don’t think the jet ski can be reinvented. It’s a pretty simple design, been tweaked by many but no huge changes. Customizing the appearance with decals and a new seat won’t make it much different. I admire Cigarette for entering another market and can see Cig fans buying up but will the average PWC buyer pay more for his ski because it’s a Cig? If they build them to the same price point as Yamaha, Sea Doo, Kawasaki etc, they’re just jumping into a mass market with huge competition and plenty of discounting.
The ‘super yacht’ sounds like a one of build for someone with close ties to the company that could be replicated if a keen buyer shows interest. Will it have an enclosed head? 🙂
Not bashing Cigarette at all, great boats, always have been. Introducing CC’s was a big move and a huge success. Just can’t imagine jet skis as the bread and butter of Cigarette Racing Team.
