I ran a 34MTI w 450s about as hard as you can for the last 13 months. Had a bad O2 sensor and bought a $11,000 set of props, but no broken shafts. And loved every minute of it.

I’ve handled a quad set of 450s that went over 2500 hours in a charter application with no problems. Also seen some snap driveshafts within 100 hours, but that’s on Freeman 47s that tip the scales at 35k pounds when fully loaded. This is especially bad on counter rotation lowers.

Sport cat applications were seeing some broken propshafts, but they’ve since been upgraded. They now have a hardened prop shaft in the SportMaster lowers and haven’t seen any failures with those. Some things are in the works to address the driveshaft and other issues they’ve seen happen in the field. We’ve been working directly with Racing’s engineering department on that. Stay tuned.

Whats merc getting for the 450s? I saw one on eBay for 49,9k. The merc dealer in Colombia has never sold a 450 or 300R for that matter. Only have sold sea pros and the base model 300s so far.
I’m trying to find out who the merc rep is for Colombia South America

thanks for all the info guys.

Ive got a 36’ Concept on order with twin 400’s. The 450’s are a $50k upgrade over the 400’s.
