Assuming that you are as well off as you say buy a 25' vhull to get your feet wet, learn the basics, bounce off the dock a time or two . Then take the class, that way you have a point of reference. After the class step up and buy something bigger more to your liking. A man of your means can certainly afford to lose a bit of money on a "starter boat " .

I would agree I don't care if you can afford anything you want, a 30+ foot 100mph cat is not a good first time performance boat to learn on. These things can hurt you or your passengers pretty quick, and all the "I'll be careful" goes out the door as soon as someone tests you. And like carnuts says, if you have the money you say you can buy something and have no worries, when you are ready get rid of it and get something else. Most likely you will anyway.

I'm offended that you're offended about me or someone else is offended about an offensive suggestion about an offender. Please don't take offense.
Handing the keys to a very high performance boat to a inexperienced boater (no matter how well intentioned)is like handing keys for a performance car to a 16 year old drive. When it goes wrong it goes really wrong and innocent people get hurt or killed and everyone wonders how it happend. You know, "thoughts and prayers " then everyone goes back to whatever they were doing. The only time we think about others actions is when the insurance bill comes. |
