I grew up in Jax and think it has some great boating and weather but my Navy time took me to P'cola and that is where my (sandy) roots are now.

I'm probably going to retire early in 22.looking in fla as well, going to spend some time snow birding, looking in destin, cape coral, keys as well as siesta key. my daughter and son in law just got transferred to Charleston so that's an option as well. my boating will change to a bigger boat prob w diesels, and im looking at houses in the 5 mil range. i think ill snowbird for a couple years to make sure i like the areas... im also checking into being an expat in areas like belize, virgin islands and costa rica.

You have identified MANY excellent locations...we also like Savannah, St. Simons/Jekyll Island, Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine. Frankly, we were glad that (due to our past) we had a footprint that made our decision at this point in our lives a lot easier...although Hurricane Sally reminded us that there is no easy choice.

thanks I do better with hot weather. the key for me is as im tired of A-hole people im not ready to isolate myself, im ready to isolate from those type of people. that being said i want to be able to get in a boat any time of the year and boat, occasionally destin will get a flurry or 2. a big cc with diesels will be my main boat and maybe still have cig for fun. I still enjoy hitting good bars and restaurants, but want to be able to seclude in my own lil compound. Belize is looking promising as well, however people have told me it gets very windy very quick, its also very appealing as they want people with means to retire there, so much they have incentives to make it happen.

The mosquitos are a big nuisance in Belize but usually was just right before sunset it seemed. We were there several years ago for a week. Very laid-back atmosphere.
When we got back i went to give blood and was informed it has malaria there and they wouldn't take my blood for 6 mo or something. I had no idea.
Lots of expats there for sure.

Went snowmobile shopping yesterday. Had no idea they were so specialized. Trail vs Backcountry vs utility etc

5 mil range. Congrats on your success! Sadly I will need something much cheaper!

"What’s not to like about this?" Uh, the snow?
