Default Donzi 22 Classic OUTBOARD!

Sorry to the many traditional Donzi fans but you know we’re gonna see more conversions eventually.
Not my first choice of engine but I think it’s a very nice looking set up.
(Boat is in Mauritius, just noticed the pics online)

I like how they sunk the sunpad, but it kinda needs a rear facing back rest and cupholders.
(could be recliner shaped and sunk a little deeper) my .02
not crazy about the spray rail but give points for it being part of the swim platform.

don't see a ladder, want more pics and details, at a glance it's done nice much better than some other outboard conversions that are out there. Plus, even with that big 4 stroke out on a bracket it still sits level

One more pic from the web (zoomed in a little). I like the sunken sun pad too, I think it’d be pretty simple to add a flip up backrest. Fold down aft onto the sun pad when running, keep the deckline low and simple. The more I look at the pics, the more I like it. Anyone got a 22’ with no motor that needs some love? 🙂

on the rounded bottom..? No thanks. Buy a 21 Challenger knock off and be happy.
Donzi recently redesigned the 22 bottom(40 years after they should have). Im keen to drive one.

The thing I do not like is how tall the OB looks on the back, its my issue with most of the conversions. But it is a style thing more then anything else.

Agreed.

When OMC came out with/their V-8 OB in I think ‘1985, their were few OB hulls of that era that didn’t look like a cartoon w/that motor on it.

As most know, I’m an OB guy but part of it is the aesthetics.

Most of the new Merc V-8 OBs look way out of line on the smaller hulls.
Great motors but, no.

I think my 25’ Checkmate twin OB is sized perfect for its twin V-6, old school, smaller (physically) 2 strokes.

I think you need 30’,+ to make the new, big motors, as twins, look like they belong there.

Resist!!! LOL.

Love my OB on my fishing boat and that is the only place. You can't replace the sound that made powerboating.
